In Swords and Bagpipes, gamers play out the events of the First War of Scottish Independence. You must fight off the invading English, but sometimes you’ll find yourself wanting to ally with them against the other players. It’s a tough decision, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, but don’t get too crazy with the deception, or the whole war could be in jeopardy.
Decisions in the game are based on the Prisoner’s Dilemma. Basically, that means that when you betray your partners, you get a little closer to your own goal. However, if everyone betrays everyone else all the time, the victory conditions for everyone changes. So you can’t just always tattle on your friends. So you have to find a nice balance between the overall goal for the game and your own, personal goals.
The game has had a big release in Russia and the campaign now is to bring it to a larger audience.
The campaign is about 1/4 funded and still has 22 days to go.
