Shattered Tabletop Games is running a Kickstarter campaign for their new fantasy RPG called Shattered Dawn (apparently, the crack of dawn spread and the whole thing broke). The rules for the game have been written primarily with new players in mind. They’re as uncomplicated as possible in order to let you tell the story you want to tell, without having to go back and reference charts and graphs all the time.

From the campaign:

Hello! We are Shattered Tabletop Games, and we would love to share our new game: Shattered Dawn. We believe that our games unify and empower people through imaginative entertainment, and Shattered Dawn is no exception.

Shattered Dawn is a story driven game, where players may create and play their characters in an expansive fantasy world. Shattered Dawn is not like other games, the rules and gameplay have been carefully crafted to be simple, fast-paced and allow for new players, and veteran players, alike to fully enjoy the lore and narrative without having to constantly focus on rules.

This is a tabletop role-playing game that is designed to be easy for new people, but allows for increased complexity based on play style. The gameplay system challenges the traditional archetypes of character creation and party roles. Our classless system allows for complete customization of every aspect of your character and allows characters to learn new things at any point. Shattered Dawn’s advancement system challenges the meta of party dynamics. Rogues do not have to wield daggers, mages can wear full plate armor, and berserkers can unleash a fury of spells.

The campaign is up and running now. They’re about 1/10 of the way to their goal with still 28 days left on the clock.

WTF is up with that intro video?

Fellas, discuss the frelling system you are trying to sell.

    • Clifford Long

I know it’s ridiculous. We are working on another video.

        How about a character sheet?

        What is a trait?

What is damage? How is it calculated?

Is the metaplot the only ‘thing’ going on? If we are playing at Borderlands is all Outcast King all the time?

    • Clifford Long

Thanks for the input, btw. Completely new at all this.

What makes our game unique are mostly 3 things:

1.) Two Dice (percentage) base system
2.) 15 minutes (After you pick a class) to create a new character
3.) And Classless system you can be what ever you want.

We wanted to build a game that’s easy to get into. Almost like a gateway into tabletop gaming but can be as complex as you want it to be.

    • Michael Dee

Yep read that already, means next to nothing.
1.) if I have an actual d100 am I not allowed to play?
2.) After I pick a class it’s only 15 more minutes before I am Playing!
      3.) But wait it’s a Classless system.!!!!

      WTF?

Hey there Michael Dee! Hope all is well.

I would encourage you to join one of our playtests either in Jacksonville or via Roll20 for a better, in depth understanding of how the game plays.

To clarify though, we are not pitching a system. We are pitching a game, which includes lore, stories, histories as well as a gameplay system.

Shattered Dawn’s truly unique qualities are its simplicity, lore and style based complexity. We use a 1d100 system, meaning you only need a percentile and 10 sided die to play. We use the rolls in a variety of ways, but you aren’t having to fumble around trying to figure out which dice to roll and when. You roll 1d100. Every time.

The lore is rich, deep and incredibly immersive. We have a short excerpt that can be found here: http://kck.st/2n5CaUV

Our classless system is unique in two ways: you have full control by selecting traits at every level (or saving them for larger traits purchases later), and that you may choose to widen your character’s scope at your own rate (meaning you may choose to have a complex character or stick to basics).

Hope this helped! We’d love to see you at a playtest soon!

    • Michael Dee

Never seen a single advertisement for a playtest at Borderlands or CoolStuff or Jaxgamecenter or Happy Viking no ideas about FLGS I don’t go to that side of town. You’ve never posted about it on the Meetup Group or on the Facebook Group. So how are we supposed to join in on a playtest?

Sorry David, you’re pitching a system. Perhaps John Doe 143 doesn’t like the fluff er lore, stories, histories of Earythe. If We can’t play your system without using your ‘lore, stories, or histories’ why would We give you money?

You fellas at Shattered Games do realize they actually do make d100 die correct? You don’t ‘have to’ use 2d10 to make a percentile roll. How good of a gamer are they if they are fumbling around trying to figure out which dice to roll when.

Sorry David but that little excerpt does nothing to show rich or deep or immersive lore.

      How about a character sheet?

      What is a trait?

      Is there skills?

What is damage? How is it calculated?

      Is there magic?

      What types of creatures?

      • Clifford Long

If you want to find out where we will be playing you’re welcome to go to our Facebook page and sign up for an event. We were at FLGS and supposed to be at Happy Viking but canceled due to no sign ups. Lloyd, who owns both even shared the events on his page. We also had a play test at Borderlands. Chip was very accommodating.

Would love to even set up a private event with you and your friends to test it. It seems like you know a lot about tabletop games and would be an invaluable experience for all of us at Shattered Tabletop Games. If you want to email us you can at [email protected] and we can get it set up and play anywhere you want in Jacksonville.

Thank you for the continued feedback. You have already been a help.

Why is Shattered Games incapable of answering basic questions about their new game system?

          How about a character sheet?

          What is a trait?

          Is there skills?

          What is damage?

          How is it calculated?

          Is there magic?

          What types of creatures?

          • Clifford Long

We have 2 new videos explaining this as I said I would do in an earlier thread. Thank you for your patience. I hope the video answers some if not all your questions. By doing it this way everyone can know the answers to the same questions you’re asking. Again, thank you for your help. Please check back on our Kickstarter, Facebook, or website for the new video demonstrations. We also have a play test at Super Hero Hive at the Beach if you are interested next Wednesday night at 6:00pm. We have an event set up on our Facebook page. Would love to have you out. Thanks.

          • Michael Dee

Only see 3 videos up on your KS.
            1. The WTF was that
            2. The campfire a’cracklin
            3. The Self-esteem

None of those has remotely any answers to simple basic questions like:

            How about a character sheet?

            What is a trait?

            Is there skills?

            What is damage?

            How is it calculated?

            Is there magic?

            What types of creatures?

            Shattered Games continues tout:
“truly unique qualities are its simplicity, lore and style based complexity.”
“Gamers find it hard to recognize more than one die type”

One doesn’t mean anything the other is an insult to basic human intelligence.

          • Clifford Long

I have 2 other videos im currently editing one is a character sheet demo and the other is an encounter so you can see how skills damage and the rolls work. Yes there is magic to answer one of your questions on this thread. Again, thank you for your patience.

          • Clifford Long

2 more videos have been added. It may not answer everything, so if you have more question please let me know.
