When you look at it, it's pretty amazing that modern humans exist at all. Let's face it, the natural world isn't what you'd really call "forgiving." Nope. Stuff is out there ready to straight-up murder your ass and everyone around you. And before we had all these climate-controlled spaces and technology and weapons we had... rocks. Yeah, just rocks. And using those rocks, early humans did some amazing things. It's that time that you get to recreate in Rise of Man: Stone Age, a new card game that's up on Kickstarter now.
In the game, you take on the role of a tribe leader. Each round, you'll have to do battle with fierce predators, hunt for food, acquire new resources, and look after the well-being of your tribe. You do this by drafting cards from a communal deck. You'll have to do things like collect a branch from a juniper tree, along with finding a piece of flint in order to create a spear. Or perhaps you'll use sinew from a caribou, along with the shell of a scallop in order to create a piece of jewelry. The player who has the most victory points at the end of the 5 rounds will be the victor.
The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now with still 29 days left on the clock.
