A dense mist hangs in the air, giving a dreamlike feeling to the near-motionless garden. The sun rises on scene, casting the first bits of light onto two warriors. They stand in silence, staring intently at one-another. They know each other well. And as the dawn works its way, bringing a new day to the world, each warrior knows that it will possibly be their last. They think back to what brought them to this place. Two lives flashing before their eyes, so intertwined they seem as one. With a sigh, almost in unison, they both know it's time. They reach for their swords. A bright flash. A pair of sudden moves. And it is over.
That's basically what you get with Reflections, the Samurai dueling RPG that's up on Kickstarter now.
Though, they stretch out that "life flashed before your eyes" bit more. In the game, the two players take on the role of two samurai. They must come up with how the two know each other and why they are now about to start a duel to the death. You'll play through various scenarios throughout the lives of the characters, with the goal of either gaining combat dice for the final conflict, or gathering rage over the slights that the other character has done to you. It all concludes with a single die roll where at least one character will not be walking away.
The campaign is over their funding goal. So it's on to stretch goals for the next 28 days.
