I will never back any KS project related with CMON. Never!

    • They are just handling the NA and SA side of distribution afaik. Production will be handled by Prodos Games.

      • Levi

Never back any CMON related KS what so ever, their reputation has been completely destroyed by their own hands.

      • Levi

This is purely my personal opinion BTW.

        • blkdymnd

You’re not alone. CMON is getting destroyed for even being a small part of it. Prodos is basically playing fire control on a lot of the posts. Seems CMON is finally burning a lot of bridges with their half ass manufacturing and distribution on KS’s

      • Grindar

CMON has proven over and over again they can’t handle the Kickstarters well, like the Relic Knights delay, communication on Relic Knights since funding ended. There’s no clear way to know who to talk to, because if you email the account linked to the Kickstarter it takes 3 days to get an email back, the studios say don’t talk to them talk to CMON…

Whoever’s running Kickstarter updates for CMON needs to be sacked and replaced with somebody who can post a biweekly update for each project.

        • Ghool

I have to agree here. The only time you get an update after the campaign is if there’s a delay, they are sending out pledge managers, or if the game is shipping.

Backers want lots of updates and communication, and CMoN seems to fail to understand this simple concept.

          • Grindar

And the way they handled the Relic Knights delay was unacceptable, giving a 6 month delay 3 weeks before shipping should have started without saying anything else about it.

        • wittdooley

Biweekly? Are you serious? That’s a bit ridiculous.

          • Grindar

Well, every 3 weeks or so. A month seems too long, but it’s not like CMON can even hit that mark.

          • wittdooley

And if they have nothing to report?

          • Ghool

            Update:

            “Hey Backers,

We have nothing to report, and the
            files are at the
            manufacturer…expected shipping is on
            such-and-such date.”

It takes 5 seconds, and backers feel ‘In the loop.’, which is all they really want.
See Euphoria, Myth, and Xia: Legends of a Drift for examples of how to post an update, even if there’s very little to report, and how to effectively communicate with your backers, and help them to feel their money is well-spent.

It takes very little effort to do, and makes me wonder why it’s always the large and most successful companies that have lousy customer service/communication.

          • wittdooley

Oh, I’m very aware of what they could do. I personally don’t think it’s that worthwhile to do it on something like this, especially as it simply gives people another reason to complain. “That update didn’t say anything” blah blah etc.

          • wittdooley

Additionally for Zombicide: 5 October updates, 3 sept updates, 9 august updates,

  • Ghool

    I’ll check it out.
But, I’m not that rabid of a fan that I’ll buy in just for the miniatures. Besides, I have enough 2 player conflict games to last several years until after the apocalypse.

    • Grindar

Stretch goal end up being the humans so a third player can get devoured by both sides?

    • I am only interested in the figures. 😉 I have a nice collection of resin and vinyl kits of aliens and preds in larger scale 😉 Have yet to see any nice minis of the same until now. Actually there are some terrific preds out there already, but they are pretty expensive.

  • Are we allowed to bash CMON on a CMON owned newsite? I wasn’t aware of any of these delay issues until now… because I’ve never supported a Kickstarter by CMON. Interesting and unfortunate.

Anyhow… I am an AvP junky so I will definitely be checking this out and will likely throw $$ at it. Even if the game sucks, the minis look great!

    • Actually, yes, you are. Whatever other things you might have against CMON, never let it be said that they try and censor the negative things people have to say about them.

      • Grindar

More importantly, do you guys actually have any plans to address the issues that CMON has with Kickstarters?

      • madzerker

Actually they do censor. Both of the mierce miniatures Darklands kickstarter campaigns were censored from their news even with multiple people asking them to report it. The funny thing is if their reason for not reporting is because of Mierce Miniatures history of being Maelstrom Games it is pretty ironic since CMoN evolved from New Wave games which ripped off tons of people. That is why I try and get my news from tabletop fix among other places since this site is so biased. You will get tons of stories on the products they are part of and not hear about products they deem to not want to support.

        • blkdymnd

Correct, hasn’t happened nearly as much lately, but in the past some critical remarks towards them have been deleted.

          • blkdymnd

And I do like Polar Bear, no issue against him personally. I feel bad that sometimes he’s put in a tough spot as sometimes the only CMON link between them and angry customers.

  • Daniel36

Will Paul W.S. Anderson be involved? O_o

  • 4tonmantis

I’ll be looking.. if it’s reasonable I would love some to go with some Battle Systems terrain. I really hope they add the iconic vehicles..

  • surprize

I was sort of ambivalent to this not being keen on KS. But was thinking of perhaps picking it up when it hits the shops. However that CMON logo on the poster has just put paid to that. I’ve only just finished getting rid of my poor quality Sedition Wars stuff on ebay.

    • 4tonmantis

For crying out loud people.. do the homework.. CMON is only handling distribution.. they aren’t making anything.

      • BaconSlayer

CMON might not be making anything, but their reputation is not confidence-inspiring. The shipping updates that have been posted recently are laughable in their incompetence. The ones about how they essentially forgot to ship hundreds sets are mind-bogging.

  • Robert

With all of the CMON bashing no one has even brought up the fact that PRODOS hasn’t even delivered on WARZONE yet and they are launching another Kickstarter?

They won’t get another dime from me. Huge disappointment.

    • 4tonmantis

Well.. that certainly sounds like the other shoe dropping. This IS a fine point and is probably more troubling than the business with CMoN. sigh Hopefully they’re able to pull this off but uphill battles usually mean more expensive end products :/

    • Veritas

Have you been watching the Warzone updates on Kickstarter? Half the orders, AT LEAST, will be out the door by the end of the week and Prodos has been giving super detailed reports of where everything stands. They switched from restic to straight resin because they weren’t happy with restic quality even though it’s eating into their profits. They sent back all the large minis for complete redos because they weren’t happy with level of detail vs. scale even though, again, it eats into their profits. Is Prodos 100% on time? No. Does it suck? Yes. Have they been anything less than excruciatingly detailed in their accounting of what is going on when and why? Heck no. Comparing them to CMoN is insulting in my opinion. I have to wait for my large pledge, but I don’t mind because they have been nothing but upfront and they are willing to take hits to their bottom line to make the best possible miniatures they can.

      • wittdooley

You mean sort of like CMoN is doing air freighting all the relic knights stuff to the US to make up for Soda Pops failure to deliver models to the production company in China on time, causing the delay? Like that?

  • Veritas

So were you watching the Wrath of Kings Kickstarter where CMoN refused all criticisms of restic whereas Prodos went out of their way to fix the problems on their own? I think you all should take a few minutes and read all the Warzone KS updates.

    • Veritas

This was a reply to wittdooley.

  • wittdooley

I have. Unimpressed. But you know, feel free to ignore the valid points I made. Also consider it was studio McVey, not CMoN, that chose the material for Sedition Wars. Maybe you should actually investigate some of that truth your user name is espousing.

    • Veritas

I backed Sedition Wars. It was terrible product. I backed Relic Knights. I don’t know how the product will be as I haven’t received it yet and the updates to the campaign are few and far between compared to Warzone where the release actual spreadsheets a couple of times a month with the progress of each and every product that made up the Kickstarter. That is the truth you seem to be ignoring. The thing I find hilarious is earlier in the thread you criticize someone who wants regular project updates as being unrealistic, yet a company that puts in the effort and puts out incredibly detailed progress reports is unimpressive. What gives? Your arguments don’t mesh with each other.

    • Veritas

Or you want to hold Prodos to a higher standard than CMoN for some unfathomable reason.

      • wittdooley

Besides, I criticized them for wanting “biweekly” updates, which is absurd. You may have chose to ignore that fact.

        • Grindar

Still don’t understand why that is “absurd” when Kickstarter says we should feel like part of the project. 15 minutes every 2 weeks isn’t that big a time drain considering we’re the ones that are giving them a job to do.

  • wittdooley

Not at all. You said “prodos fixed a problem even though it ate into profits.” Then you said comparing Prodos to CMoN was “insulting”. I’m simply offering the very real counterpoint of CMoN fixing a problem that very much eats into profits as well. I appreciate that Prodos seems to be using actual project management methodology. But their “explanations” about their delays isn’t anything to be impressed by. Which is exactly what I said.

Further, I disagree that Sedition Wars is terrible. I like the minis just fine. They paint up well. The game is uninspiring, but many are. The minis work great for tons of other things.

As to Relic knights: put the blame where it should be. On Ninja division….err… Soda Pop.

  • PanzerKraken

Yea this kickstarter is way too expensive for what you are getting. It’s prototype pics, but the game components look awful. Surprised people are throwing money at this so quick with so little content and some crappy looking stretch goals.

    • So you feel that hand poured resin cast multipose figures at roughly £3.26 a pop (so far for the base game) is expensive? As stated this KS version is for collectors. If only Wrath of Kings had gone down this route – they’d gotten all my mini moneys for this year. Instead I gave it a miss. If the quality is up to snuff when the closeups come up I will be happy. As for actual game content beside the minis it looks quite uninspired, but I couldn’t care less personally. As always I am in it for the figures and anything else is a bonus/dead weight depending on how good it is.
