Privateer Press is having their Lock and Load Convention this weekend, and have been showing off some of their new stuff. Here is the Extreme Carnivean.

I’m not sure if it’s the color palette and the sinewy bits, but my first impression is ‘GOBBLE GOBBLE’.

The positioning is a bit awkward, it feels as if the model is going to fall over due to the fins/bones/mass on the back and the angle the rock he is standing on is at. I’m also not sure what’s going on in the groin area, and I mean that seriously.

It’s the perspective. From this view it looks like the toon is waving around his dong.

That’s exactly what it looks like. I took a look at the 360 shot, and it’s a third arm and the things tail. This…is an ungainly sculpt, a lot of that is due to the positioning and palette choice.

I like the scuplt and all, but $65? Really? Whew, that’s a bit much…

that price is on par with the other Extreme sculpts that Privateer Press has released so far

The extremes are typically quite a bit larger than their standard cousins as well.

Considering the size of this base, this looks to be twice the size of a standard Carnivean. $65 is alright in my book for a model that size.

I tried out Warmahordes because I didn’t like the cost trend for $40K (ha ha, typo, but it seems very appropriate, so I won’t fix it…). Now privateer Press seems to be going in a similar direction. Between some of the $70 units like the Ogrun Assault corp, the colossals, the battle engines, it’s becoming quite pricey in it’s own right. I thought $50 for a terminator squad was bad…

It may be in line with other products in Warmahordes, but that is exactly my problem… 🙁

Fortunately, nobody’s forcing you to buy a game you think is too pricy. 😉

Also, no one is forcing you to buy the extreme sculpts since they have the same rules as the much cheaper plastic kits.

Really interesting sculpt. I am not sure if it is great or terrible, but for sure it is eye catching. Price is also veru reasonable in my humble opinion. Now our hobby tends to be more and more expensive.

What happened to the extreme titan gladiator? It’s not in the store anymore.
