Monday’s gone. That first hurdle to the work week is in the past. Time to get over it not being the weekend anymore and, instead, set our sights towards next weekend. We’ve got another 3.5 work days to get through, and we could use something to help make that time go by quicker. I know time tends to speed up when I’m talking about gaming. Thankfully, I get an opportunity to do that just about every day. I know others aren’t so lucky. But even if they’re not talking about gaming, you can listen to people talk about gaming in the various podcasts. Here’s what we’ve collected over the past week.
We have: The Hub Systems Episode 19 – Salute 2016, Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast #40: Reiner Knizia’s Relationship Simulator, Primecast Episode 31, Through Gamer Goggles Role-Play Ramblings 5: Is Cheating Acceptable, Docking Bay 94 podcast Episode 30: Polyversal, Game Classy 112: Better than Deathclock, and News of the North – 2016-04-26.
After the Salute 2016 show, Oscar and I invite Spartan Vanguard Ian Duff (who was running the Planetfall demos), Chris Smith (aka the organiser of the Reading Warfare Firestorm tournament) and Tomas Martin (lead author for Spiral Arm Studios and Maelstrom’s Edge) to talk about our impressions and highlights.
We cover new games like Halo Ground Combat and Project Götterdämmerung, as well as our usual Hit or Miss slot, where this time we examine the “Limited Edition” 2016 Space Marine from Games Workshop.
Matt, Paul and Quinns have met once again to create a board gaming Voltron! Albeit one with three hearts and no brain. You’ll find this towering chat-robot squatting in our podcast section.
Games discussed in this prestigious 40th episode include And Then We Held Hands, Ra, Through the Ages, FUSE and A Fake Artist Goes to New York. If you’re looking for the Tuesday Knight Games podcast featuring Matt, you’ll find it right here.
We also chat about board game boxes and sustainability and end with a lovely interview with Plaid Hat’s Isaac Vega, who wants to tell us all about the new standalone expansion for Dead of Winter: The Long Night.
Episode 31 of the Privateer Primecast has arrived and with it, news about the all new editions of WARMACHINE and HORDES! Join host Simon Berman as he interviews Director of Business & Brand, Will Shick, and Lead Writer Doug Seacat about the status of every faction in the game as the new rules hit and the story jumps forward two years.
In this episode of Role-Play Ramblings I discuss the social considerations of cheating. This includes how it can even be acceptable.
Entering into our virtual studio this week is Byron Collins of Collins Epic Wargames. We talk about miniature gaming, some of the game CEW has published, and the relaunch of the 6mm miniatures game, Polyversal. All of this, plus our usual discussion of games we’ve been playing, and our Kick The Box, Kickstarter segment.
Joe and Steve talk about the new version of Warmahordes that’s already old news by now. They also talk about the Kingdom De…I mean Dark Souls Kickstarter.
Welcome to the April 26th, 2016 edition of News of the North. Here’s our weekly selection of interesting news items in the miniature wargaming world.
