Happy Halloween, everyone! I’m actually in costume, though you can’t see it. I’m dressed up as “me on Saturday.” Hey, having a set wardrobe for particular days of the week means that putting on a costume is as simple as changing which day I wear which shirts. Though it does make me feel like I should be typing up the Review Roundup and not the Podcast one. Yet Tuesday it is. And that means podcasts.
Today we have: Meeples & Miniatures Episode 233: Oppy Wood; Anonymous Tabletop Episode 19: Tales from the Unscript; Forgot My Dice Episode 22 (29): Count of Monte Cristo Moment; The Secret Cabal Express 32: Hosting a Halloween Game Night; Epic Gaming Night Podcast Episode 129: Lets Get Spooky!; SAGA THORSDAY Episode 61: Franks Overview; The Cardboard Herald Episode 51: Kenna Conklin of Going Last; Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 130: Richard the Lionheart, Sundae Split, Alien Artifacts and Ted Alspach; Singled Out Episode 50: Talking Tournament Bridesmaids With Jason Mountain; and News of the North – 2017-10-31.
The Meeples crew get together once again to talk about what they have been up to. As well as chatting about their gaming, they also discuss the recent Derby Worlds show, the Battle of Britain Kickstarter from PSC Games and The Welsh Wizzard finally reveals all about ‘the game that cannot be mentioned‘.
For the feature part of our show we do something a little different as we chat with James Morris from the Lenton Gamers about the inspiration behind their award winning ‘Oppy Wood’ demonstration/participation game.
We hope you enjoy the show.
In our 2nd Annual Halloween episode we find that we’ll all get good seats in Hell, Katie fights Lathan over the merits of the Orville, and Dave finally makes it through a hobby update when Tim skips the show for a Bears game.
We then discuss horror movie remakes we would actually want to see, Lathan attacks the current crop of movie directors, and we dig into some other horror properties that have yet to make it to the screen.
Afterwards, we play Halloween DJ to see what makes our party playlists, find out that Lathan has some fairly strange taste in music, and dance awkwardly as he channels his inner Fresh Prince and raps at us.
And last but not least, Geeky Jean plays Halloween dress up, Celebrity Deathmatch pits fear against franchise, and we reach into the spirit realm to contact Tim from beyond the game.
The boys get together for one last recording session in the same room, before Robert moves to Portland. Robert reveals a secret he has kept since episode 23 which may have driven him to madness. Jonathan hears opinions on Indiana Jones that make him want to bathe, which is a different from of madness. All this plus a Deep Dive of Blood Bowl by Games Workshop, table top news, a weird assortment of Kickstarters, and so much more!
Chris, Steve and Jamie get together to talk horror movies, Halloween party games, spooky board games, setting the proper atmosphere and some terrifying board games they’d like to see made!
We talk gaming news, what we have been playing & spooky games and stories!
Rodge here. Welcome to SAGA THORSDAY – your weekly source for Saga miniatures game content! This week, Stephen and I discuss the various Franks sub-factions.
Kenna is 1/2 of the amazing Going Last podcast; the next-best podcast on the web-ernets! Jack and Kenna talk about X-men, gender options in games, Going Last’s policy on reviews, podcast, and much, much more. Both hosts of Going Last will be at PAX Unplugged
We are back and we have tricked another designer to come on to the show. Ted Alspach joins us and talks about the follow-up to Castles of Mad King Ludwig, The Palace of Mad King Ludwig. To answer the question right away, yes, they are different games and you need to hear what Ted says about it to determine if you will consider giving it a spin when it comes out next year.
And what would a show be without a few game discussions. CMON’s Richard the Lionheart was on the table and will be back, it was a fun game. Alien Artifacts was played and needs another few or ten plays to get down to the nuts and bolts of this engine. And then there was the filler from our pal Nate Bivens, the up and coming designer, with his first release Sundae Split.
In this episode Andrew and Jason talk about the Heroic Throw down tournament, and the soul crushing nature of never being the bride. Then, mid episode, Burnish appeared online, so we talked about it. Warning – Andrew gets to talk about Masons, relatively interruption free, for several minutes.
