I don’t know about you, but my Monday went by in a flash. It seemed I’d just clocked in when it was already almost time to go. But having a very busy day will do that. And that means this whole week is going to rush by, since I’m certainly busy. And while I work on these various proofing and writing projects, I’ve got some gaming podcasts to listen to.
This week we have: Game Classy Episode 136: Look Who’s Back; Plan of ATK! Episode 1; The Secret Cabal Episode 133: 51st State, Mombasa and So Many Favorites; The D6 Generation Episode 211: Guerrilla Miniature Games & Miniature Agnostic Games; The Cardboard Herald Episode 24: Kevin “QXC” Riley, pro-Starcraft player turned game designer; The Rolistes Podcast Episode 20 (Part 2) : Nephilim with Mira, Willem & Rob; Gamers Lounge Episode 136: Drowned Earth; Epic Gaming Night Podcast Episode 102: Planning & Strategy; The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 23 part 1: Mars, Tsuro and Planetarium; Meeples & Miniatures Episode 205: The EPIC Show; Exploding Dice Radio Episode 2; Forgot My Dice Episode 9 (16) : Retroactive Spoiler Alert; Nerdherders Episode 104: Adepticon 2017 Recap; Altar of War Episode 3; and News of the North – 2017-04-25.
Joe broke his back, and now he is recording a podcast while on pain killers and muscle relaxers about new 40k editions and the L5R card game. Enjoy!
Welcome to the first episode of Plan of ATK! Co-hosts Simon Berman and Laurie Payne talk about what’s on their own hobby tables and what games they’ve been playing before an in-depth discussion of what’s new and upcoming in tabletop wargaming. They’re then joined by their first guest, Chris Walton (former Privateer Press Concept Artist and Art Director). Simon reviews the new Flames of War 4th edition starter set “Battle of El Alamein: War in the Desert.” They wrap up with some talk about music, video games, books, and the announcement of Plan of ATK’s first contest and a chance to win a Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Heavy Assault box set courtesy of Seattle’s Raygun Lounge!
We’re in the mood for celebration! Our Kickstarter is a resounding success and the founders are going bananas! Today we take a look at the new edition of 51st State the Master Set and give it a in depth review. Then we take a look back at Mombasa one year later. Tony T hooks us up with all the important gaming news while the rest of the gang heckles him. Then finally the founders discuss their favorite things within a series of categories.
Ash Barker, of the Guerrilla Miniature Games YouTube Channel, joins us in the third chair!
Up first, we get to know Ash. How did he get into gaming and what was it like starting up and building a YouTube channel dedicated to streaming a wide variety of miniature game battle reports.
Jack talks with Kevin Riley, retired pro-StarCraft player who’s cooperative board game Aeon’s End has a kickstarter up now for it’s stand alone expansion. This conversation goes to some uncharted territory for TCbH, with a surprising focus on mental health and stability of people who are singularly dedicated to a project or career.
Here’s the second part of our EPIC multipart episode dedicated to Nephilim, the 90s cult French contemporary occult tabletop RPG, with our guests/players Mira Manga, Willem and Robert.
Bill jumps on the microphone with James of the Drowned Earth Miniature Game kickstarter. Listen to Bill and James explore the Kickstarter experience, and more importantly the game.
This week Roy, Matt, & Rob take a look at Planning & Strategy in board games!
teve, Andy, his potty mouth, Jon and his creaky chair have come together for another batch of board gaming chat. In part one of a two parts special (I say special, its more that we waffled for too long and had to chop it down) we go through Andy’s Kickstarter habit, have a discussion on the pronunciation of the word Brass, Nandos and how best to censor Andy.
We also talk about some games, since that’s why we’re here. Andy takes us to Mars, in a Story of Civilisation, Steve ventures through time in TIME Stories Expedition Endurance, Jon is all at sea with Tsuro and we all learn some valuable science from Dr Lewis in Planetarium.
Mike Hobbs takes the reins of the podcast to present a show about one of his all-time favourite games – Space Marine/Epic from Games Workshop.
We are joined by guests Peter Ramos, Teras Cassidy and Ken Whitehurst, not only to look back at all aspects of the game from Adeptus Titanicus through to Epic: Armageddon, but also to discuss what the gaming community can accomplish when their favourite game stops being supported by its publisher.
We hope you enjoy the show.
In Episode 2 of EDR, Andy and Josh discuss all of the cool Spartan events that occurred at Adepticion. Later in the show, they dig into the major changes that are coming with Dystopian Wars 2.5. This is an exclusive sneak preview on some major changes to the rules, so make sure to tune in!
Welcome to episode 16 of the Forgot My Dice podcast! In this episode, Jonathan is seduced by steampunk sky-pirate dwarves. Robert has returned from Mass Effect Andromeda insanity, is bad about telling people about spoilers, and finally watched Rogue One. The movie that continues to curse him, as he believes it is the cause of our technical difficulties this episode, but Jonathan will tell you that at the start of the show. Also we talk about some Rogue One and Legends of Tomorrow finale spoilers before we warn you, so beware! On top of that we launch a Patreon, talk about what is off the shelf, share some fun Kickstarters, chat about table-top news, and deep dive Arcadia Quest Inferno. All this, and so much more, from the FMD podcast!
The boys invade Chicago for Adepticon! They’ll take you though the ups and downs of a road trip…and even a road trip within a road trip! Oh, and poor Dave stayed home.
Episode 3 of Masters of the Forge: Altar of War features the first part of a 4-part campaign sponsored by Tablewar. Josh brings his Eldar against John’s Grey Knights in a narrative battle using the new Shadow War Kill Teams rules. This was a great game played on the new Ruined City FAT Mat using a really fun ruleset.
