There have been a lot of video games that are being turned into tabletop games lately. Pillars of Eternity can now be added to that list, as Zero Radius Games is turning it into a strategic card game over on Kickstarter. In Pillars of Eternity: Lrds of the Eastern Reach, players are in control of a city that they must build and protect. But just sitting behind your own walls isn't going to get you the glory and loot to make your city the greatest. You must go out and attack other cities, or send valiant heroes into dungeons in search of riches.
Each turn, the Active Player can either delve into the dungeon or attack another city. Once the battling has come to a close, they draw resource tokens from the bag in order to build up their city or hire heroes. If they don't use all the resources, they pass to the next player, and so forth and so on until everyone's had a chance to build. City management and planning is crucial, as you'll need certain types of buildings in order to change how many cards you can play and how big your army can get.
Play continues until the deck of city cards has been exhausted. Then, just tally up your score and see if your town is the greatest amongst all!
The campaign is doing very well, having made it through 9 stretch goals at time of post. There's still 23 days to go, too.
