From them to you:

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, I just got pics of the first sculpt from the Bandidos Mexicanos! Allow me introduce you to Cabo Mendoza!

Tim, all the sculpts so far have been spot on and great looking. Good Luck on the game. I still want a demo soon!

One of these days I’ll finally make it out to a game day 🙂 or you could always come to GenCon 🙂

This is a miss for me. The hat is somewhat bizarre, and outside of the bandolier and machete he looks more like a frontiersman or mountain man than a Mexican bandit.

I’m sure paint will do this model many favors, but it’s fairly disappointing as is.

I personally like it and has a nostalgic feel from the SNES game Sunset Riders

I think that the concept drawing for this model (as seen on Kickstarter or a previous TGN post) looked a great deal like that guy. This green doesn’t really capture that, at least for me.

I completely agree. It’s in his face, it just doesn’t say “Mexican Bandito” to me. He looks too caucasian. I understand getting a “racial” profile is difficult, but just removing his beard would do wonders.

  • He doesn’t have to be Spanish to be part of the Bandidos. He could be a Caucasian living near/in a Mexican villa or that he is just part of a Mexican gang.

Mendoza must be an alias! ;>

Well, a lot of Spanish, Germans, and French were in mexico, maybe the European genes kicked in.

“Mendoza was an orphan, left to fend for himself on the streets of Tijuana. When he was 7 years old, he was adopted by General Filipe Mendoza who raised him and forced him to join the army. After achieving the rank of Corporal (Cabo), his commanding officer assigned him the special detail of protecting a mysterious gentleman, known only as El Jefe”

So there, he doesn’t have to look Mexican to be Mexican, because he was an orphan and no know knows where he came from 🙂 But I do agree, the beard is very non-mexican-looking. But I still really dig how the sculpt came out and I’m sure once he’s painted up with his other amigos he’ll fit in just fine 🙂
