Warlord Games continues to expand their new Judge Dredd Miniatures line with new mercenary models as well as Judge Dredd, himself.

From the release:

More Mercenaries are unleashed upon the unsuspecting citizens of the Mega Cities this week but fear not – Judge Dredd himself is here to apply the (brutally) firm hand of The Law!

So is this another major IP that Sprange couldn’t handle? And is the Dredd KIckstarter still going to be fulfilled?

I would really like to see them package this as a board game that has expanded rules to allow for “regular” tabletop play. I love the Dredd universe but I have reservations about getting into any more games that require the purchase of rulebooks. I didn’t like when TSR did the rulebook rotations and I don’t like others doing it. Hopefully this doesn’t go there but having it as a board game would be a great way to ensure that it stays playable and accessible.

So far all of the rules have been free to download and have been updated occasionally.

  • Gents,

It’s still early days for our partnership with Mongoose but so far we have supplied several hundred models that are for those pledging to the Kickstarter and many hundreds more still being produced. All KS miniatures will be with those who pledged before they are released to the general public.

As I’m sure you’ll appreciate, we’ve had to hit this from a standing start, remaster every component, produce new production moulds, organise packaging, etc. It’s been done as fast as it was possible to do so given we also have our existing lines to produce in tandem.

We are committed to releasing all of the existing miniatures (plus some of which are being replaced by new, updated models) and also get lots of shiny new sculpts for you to collect.

Please give us a little time to get all of this in order and you won’t be disappointed. I am a huge Dredd fan myself and won’t let anything get in the way of this being as good as it can be.

I don’t think anyone is criticizing Warlord. We’re all just shaking our heads that Mongoose failed on their end and needed help yet again. In fact I would think most people, well me at least, are probably more comfortable with it in your hands rather than Matt’s.

Pfft, I pledged at a lower level which basically amounted to free shipping and a couple of promo figs. Wasn’t “cheap”, but it was still a deal of sorts and it helped the KS along.

Out of the two boxes I had on my pledge, I have still to receive the second (Specialist Judges). I’m not really sure why the boxes weren’t worked on in a more comprehensive manner either, as it seems that different figures for the different boxes have all been popping up seemingly at random, and only two or three new boxes actually got completed on time.

It’s a pity that it has taken so long, and that the comms from MGP has been pretty mediocre; they have been infrequent, come across as a bit insincere, and rarely address the comments backers leave (usually asking legitimate questions).

How on earth MGP though they could run this and Rogue Trooper, I have no idea! Sad really, as the MGP guys seem cool, and the licences they hold are great. Ho hum.
