Privateer Press have posted a preview of the Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Unit resculpt and the Master Tormentor Morghoul Variant sculpt.

Caw! Caw! I’m Morghoul! Man, I don’t care for that sculpt, which I was hoping would be good enough to replace my Morghoul. His arms are Catachan scale too, which doesn’t help the sculpt either. Maybe I can do something with it when it comes out, but I’m not seeing a very impressive resculpt on that one.

Morghoul reminds me a little of Batman Begins when he was making his cape from the special material. All you need to do is add some membrane between Morghoul’s claws and you’ve got Batskorne :p

Also, the new Gun Mages are magnificent. I’d been thinking about getting some of the old ones, but I’ll definitely be waiting for these new ones now.

The Gun Mages are pretty sweet (metal or plastic?). Morghoul…does not convince me that I need to buy a new one. blkdymnd pretty much had that right….

Preview page doesn’t mention it so I assume they are metal.

If I played Skorne I’d stick with original Morghul. I hope Lylyth looks better than that!

I, on the other hand, love the new Morghoul. Very dramatic. Like he is rising, getting ready to pounce and slash.

…or Mix Master Morghul spinning vinyl in Five Fingers. 🙂

The model itself is nice. Especially in the 360 panorama. But I think that the blades are much too large and chunky.

So females are no longer allowed in the Gun Mages corps?

    • cybogoblin

I think the blonde is a female. It’s a little hard to tell when you can’t see much of the face or see more than one view of the model.

Maybe we’ll get new a new female UA and Solo as well (like the alt female Journeyman).

I remember not liking all of the Rackham stuff that came out in their lines – despite the awesome success of their clan box, the pretty good fangs of the moon goddess (box of 5 modular warriors), and the super cool prowler, ultra detailed trackers, warriors of blood, etc. All their old wolfen junk seemed poised to just disappear!

And yet, there were a couple misses in that (and their other) range revamps. Notably the lackluster; and ultimately not very “wolfy” worgen models.

You imagine that just because their new, cuz you like the company – that there’s some kind of trajectory there. That the new stuff will rock the awesomesauce.

Poor Kaya and Morghul – proving to us that this isn’t always the case. If PP wouldn’t have such a raging hard on for “extreme” stuff, I think they’re have more in the win column. I play those factions; so I got excited, and then un – in that order. Please, Please, PLEASE make this mean that the Gorax will be good! Then on to bury stumpy foot argus…

  • This is just a theory on my part… but I belive the resculpts of Kaya and Morghoul and the other previously only available warlocks in the starter sets were supposed to be the plastic casters, as the Ravagore, the Warpwolf stalker, the Titan and the Bomber were the alternative plastic heavy warbeast, but since the plastics were not done ‘in house’, they had problems with delays and general unreliability that made the proposition of going plastic too risky, so they dumped the idea of going plastic with the Hordes battlegroups, the Retribution Cavalry, the missing Man-O-Wars and so on… my guess is that they also wanted to do the Battle engines in plastic, but they had to switch to resin, that they can do in their own facilities.

It’s just a theory… anyone else thinks in making any sense?
