Monsters in the Sky lets us know that while they’ve maybe not been vocal recently, they’ve not drifted off to that sweet goodnight.

From the Cap’n:

It’s been a few months since the last update of “Where is Leviathans?”, and while we’ve not reached any critical “something broke free” stage, I felt it high time to provide an update.

The Leviathans Core Box Set and British/French Fleet Boxes are being manufacturers by two separate manufacturers: 1. the plastics; 2. everything else.

For those following such things, the BattleTech Introductory Box Set went through a terrible series of production hurtles last year before finally becoming available again this month…the same manufacturer that printed all the paper material for that product is printing all the paper material for Leviathans, so a lot of the same hurtles are getting in the way.

Been waiting with decreasingly bated breath for almost two years now. Leviathans still looks cool and all, but I’m rapidly losing the will to get excited by it. OTOH, I did just see the BattleTech box in my FLGS, so maybe there is some smoke on the horizon after all (rather than just vapor!).

Does it bother anyone else that they said they have experienced the same problems with the same manufacturer before? Time for a new manufacturer….

Hey, when you find a factory in China with kid willing to do the work cheaper than anyone else you’ve got to stick by them. Massive delays and production errors are TOTALLY worth saving a few dollars.

Yeah, the typos and not learning from previous mistakes doesn’t lend much confidence.

I really enjoyed this game when I tried it at Origins and was let down that it was not released at Gencon because of “hurdles”. The system was unique and I like the models they previewed at Gencon (I even have 2). I would love to see a Battletech spin off using the combat system for Leviathans to speed the game up, but I doubt that will ever happen. Hopefully we will see some box sets at Origins or Gencon this year.

Guess I shouldn’t be amazed by their comment that their core set is essentially being held hostage by those two manufacturers. Guess you have to factor that into the cost of doing business when launching a game.
