Mongoose Publishing will be running a Rogue Trooper Kickstarter starting this Friday.
They’ve posted up the .pdf of the rulebook online so you can see how the game works and know what you’re getting in to.

  • Show me the minis!

This, I have been waiting for.

A preview version of the Kickstarter page was available a few days ago, I think the link might still be on Dakka. They had one or two greens on show, but that’s about it.

    IGO UGO?

Either I’ve time travelled back to the 80s or someone is extremely lazy in game design.

    Pass.

    • You don’t want the rules. You want the minis. Any of the various sci-fi rules will work…

      • cegorach

        Good point.

We’ve dished out the rules as a free download – I would urge you to proxy asome models and give them a try. The reason they are IGYG is because of the Reaction system, which keeps both players active no matter whose turn it is.

Seriously, give them a quick go, and see what you think.

So they’ve found yet another use for the defunct Starship Troopers rulebook. How… uninspiring.

I am not entirely certain how a rules system can become defunct. However, this is a system we have been working on and tweaking for years, ever since Gangs of Mega-City One – Rogue Trooper uses the latest version of it

And, again, I am not certain that company sticking to and developing one system is a bad thing…

I don’t even care about the rules, this is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi properties. It makes me happy that it’ll have a miniatures line.

    • Exactly that.

They need to offer pledges that DON’T include the rule book.

      • Looks like they are. The rule book counts as a set of miniatures.

Not happy that they have to get to stretch goals just for them to make souther and nort officers! That’s limiting in building units.

Looks like they are only going to make a couple of rogue models. I was looking forwards to a small unit of gi’s against larger forces of norts 🙁

Like the Dredd game, we want to make Rogue Trooper a ‘community game,’ for want of a better term.

So, if you want your small unit of GIs, please, by all means, swing by our forums, get others excited about the idea, and see it done! The Judge Dredd game received a whole new force (the Mega-City One Resistance Force) during its Kickstarter because of an idea a player had, and most of the new models in the range were suggested by players.

We want you to get involved and tell us the kind of game you would like to see – right nowe, it is just the kind of game I want to play 🙂
