We've got another bit of Star Trek news for you today. Modiphius, makers of such games as Mutant Chronicles and the Conan and Infinity RPG games has announced that they're going to be making Star Trek Adventures, a new RPG as well as a line of miniatures to go along with it. This is the first official Star Trek RPG that's come out in the last decade.
The game will be using the 2d20 system that Modiphius is known for. It will cover pretty much every Star Trek tv series, from the original, through The Next Generation, and into Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. The game is set for release in the summer of 2017.
But you don't have to wait a year to get in on the action. Fans who will be attending Gen Con in a couple weeks (gee, all sorts of stuff happening at that show) will be able to sign up for the playtest of the game. Though this is more than just being sent a set of not-quite-finished rules. People will be signing up for a ship's crew, getting to decide what ship they want to be aboard. They can also pick up a free Kirk or Picard miniature, the first of the new line of figures that will be created for the game.
Don't worry if you won't be at the show, there will be online sign ups in late August. Also, if you're going to be going to Essen-Spiel or Dragonmeet, you can sign up there as well.
As for the figures, they will be in 32mm scale. They will cover classic and new characters, as well as generic characters (gotta have those redshirts). Maps will also be made that will show the interiors of ships, alien colonies, and strange planets.
