MLRS Books will be releasing Uniforms and Equipment of the British Army in the First World War in February.

From their announcement:

Uniforms and Equipment of the British Army in the First World War by John Bodsworth – simply the most comprehensive and detailed account of the uniforms and ancillary equipment worn/carried/used by all British soldiers – from boots to bonnets, and including Highland dress and the kilts still worn in battle in the First War. It is simply the best book we have ever seen on the subject. It is fully illustrated with over 1,000 photographed examples from the author’s collection and museums, and goes down to button sticks and up to greatcoats. It also contains many contemporary photographs of complete uniforms, bed layouts and other fascinating detail. In addition the author includes many civilian advertisements for accoutrements that could be purchased privately – and not just by officers.

It will be priced at £60.00 plus postage, but subscriber orders received before 1 February will be priced at £54.00 and no postage will be charged.

To pre-order a copy simply let us have your details – name and address, and a copy will be reserved at the offer price. On 1 February printing begins, and all pre-orders will be printed and sent first.

This is, as one militaria expert put it, “the book everyone needs” and MLRS Books is extremely proud to beable to offer it to the public.
