Many, many, many times I have said it’s great for a game to have two-player starter sets. With one purchase, you can get yourself everything you need to get going right away with a game (except for maybe needing some glue). Well, with the latest releases for Dark Age, they, too, now have a 2-player starter set. They’re also heading over to plastic for this new group of minis. The starter and several new releases are available now.

From the release:

March 2017 is a benchmark for Dark Age players and retailers everywhere! Not only do we have gorgeous new resculpts of older models that were showing their age and a fantastic new horror to unleash upon the world – but this marks the official release of the long awaited Path to Glory Two-Player Starter Set for Dark Age!

Path to Glory is not only Dark Age’s first boxed starter set, but it is also our first foray into a product consisting of high-density PLASTIC miniatures! Easy to assemble, durable, and bearing the same gorgeous level of detail you expect from the current Dark Age miniature releases, Path to Glory contains everything two players need to sit down and start playing Dark Age!

March brings some fantastic new miniatures for Dark Age fans, too. For those Forsaken players we have the brand new trio of Saint Mark’s savage warrior women – the Junkers. Their heavy smiting maces crush the opposition in single, reaching strokes while they dance around enemy attacks. Dragyri players get two new options this month. The first is a pair of beautiful new resculpts of the elegant Air Caste Wails, whose whirling chain whips can trop up and entangle any foe for their sisters in arms to come and deal the final blow. Brand new to Dark Age, the Shadow Caste have received a new horrifying beast of a warrior – the dark and powerful Goliath. Tearing enemies apart with its bare hands or blinding them with showers of toxic spines, this monster thrives on raw violence!

Let’s face it, 2017 is already a great year for Dark Age! Stay tuned for more amazing Dark Age products coming soon!

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

Are people actually playing this besides at the company HQ?

They had it in my game store for a while, but they just put the whole line on clearance. I mean the models were amazing, and the setting was great. No one picked it up tho. In a field of Warhammer, Warmachine/Hordes, Malifaux, Infinity, etc. A lot of these younger games just struggle.

      • Michael Dee

Um..Dark Age came out before Malifaux and Infinity I picked up the first wave of Dark Age models in 2003 or 2004? The rules weren’t ‘official’ or some such until 2013?

        • ZeeLobby

Yeah. I mean I saw it no where until 2013. I don’t really consider any game without “official” rules to really be a game. In that sense it is much younger than the Titans in the room. Sadly even with the 2013 core rulebook out, I’ve yet to see it really pick up.

I haven’t paid much attention to Dark Age since that summer they released their line. I assumed the only thing that made the rules ‘official’ in 2013 was DA actually publishing the rules in dead tree form.

          • ZeeLobby

Which was pretty significant. It was the first time they hit shelves in many game stores. At least the two near me don’t support any games without sellable rules.

That’s not correct at all! The first edition rulebook was released (as a printed book!) back in 2002 and there’s been several editions afterwards that have each had their own printed rulebook.

Oh, and for the record, I play DA and the Facebook group around it is pretty busy.

Did you not notice the question mark at the end of that sentence?

So the game was released in ’02? I don’t know it’s been a while. I picked it up at Origins, the rules, then, were most definitely not in a book format

Hell I have the original Dragyri Soul Warden model

Is that the mostly resin one with the big flowing cloak? I’ve got one of him as well.

I feel like I first saw Dark Age quite a long time ago- but I’ve never gotten into the game itself. I know that they’ve been going through the line and updating the minis.

          • Michael Dee

It has the big flowing cloak, but mine is 100% metal.

          • odinsgrandson

Groovy. Is it the same sculpt, then, and they just changed out the material?

And just to make sure we’re talking about the same mini:

            Looks to be about right.
