Mantic has updated their blog with an extra by Heath “BA” Foley showing off some of the concept art he’s been working on for Kings of War.

From the post:

It’s been great fun putting together this week’s Kings of War content for the blog, and one of the things I’ve enjoyed most is talking to some of the people behind the scenes of our favourite fantasy game. In my quest to find interesting things for you guys to take a look at, I got in touch with Heath Foley, concept artist and new(ish!) addition to the gang of freelancers who are responsible for creating our miniatures range.

Heath’s done a crazy amount of work for us considering we sent him his first brief less than a year ago, and he was kind enough to give us some insights into what he does. Take it away, Heath!

I say this with no offense intended Heath Foley as his concept art is wonderful, its what made me throw money at the KoW kickstarter the Basilean sisters sold me, but when the finished mini is not even in the realm of the concept art it really damages my faith in Mantic. I feel like the KoW kickstarter backers really suffered to the Dread Ball and Loka kickstarters. the KoW stuff looks like it was rushed to me and not close to the same level of quality as Dread Ball. Ear my trust back Mantic make these very close to the concept art because when people buy mini’s sight unseen that is what they are buying the concept art.

Interesting. Do you have links showing the art and the minis respectively? Just in the article above I like the concept art – but would be interested to see the disparity you speak of.
