So, you're a wizard (so you probably did it, you danged wizard, you). You've decided you want to make a living for yourself by opening up a nice, little magic shop. You find a nice location, rent out a storefront, and set out your wares. But then, some other jerk wizard does the same just a couple doors down. And then another opens one up around the corner! Alright, a little competition never hurt anyone. You've just gotta make sure that when that group of adventurers gets to town, it's to your shop that they go. That's the story behind Manaforge, a new dice-rolling board game that's up on Kickstarter.
In the game, each player has their own magic shop. They're looking to make it the most prestigious in the town. They do this by rolling their dice, which will represent the Mana that they can work with that turn. They use that Mana to purchase cards from the game board, or to activate abilities on cards they've purchased. As you go along, you'll find your shop's prestige growing, as well as your resources, letting you buy more and more expensive cards. At the end of 9 rounds, the one that has the most prestige for their shop is the winner.
The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now. They're about 1/4 of the way to their goal with still 18 days left on the clock.
