I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

I wish you could just get those on their own. Very nice drawings.

  • You can build your own package of any unlocked miniatures so if you only want monsters you can do that. Lots more monsters coming…

Same problem as with the other figures. I LOVE the concept art, really want to buy, but I don’t want to end up with nothing when Impact receives a cease and desist.

But won’t you be regretful if they don’t?

Impact! have a pretty solid reputation. I don’t want to speak for them, but it’s hard to imagine they would fail to refund the money unless the legal action left them completely debilitated.

I doubt that they’re going to receive a cease and desist. No one has claim to a baby unicorn or a young chibi barbarian- especially since there aren’t any competing products.

I think they’re going to be fine. For my part, I would rather see the actual minis, and I’m not super nostalgic about the old TV show. But if they look cool, I’d like to pick some of them up.

Also, I’d like to see if they’re going to do the big dragon.

Actually, they DO have claim to that particular chibi barbarian. Them being, I assume Hasbro or Disney, since the original show was a joint TSR/Marvel venture, which is still generating revenue through licensing to Mill Creek Entertainment. Like the orc pictured above, the barbarian is an exact likeness of a character from the television show right down to the color scheme in the concept art. The only way these go to production is if the Kickstarter stays completely off the IP holder’s radar.

Exact likeness? Just what are you on??????

          • Soulfinger

Likeness: “The semblance, guise, or outward appearance of”

Okay, they changed the color scheme since the initial posting. Their “not Bobby the Barbarian” no longer has blonde hair, the thief has a red cloak now, the magician is wearing blue instead of green; but c’mon, it is starkly evident that they are the cartoon characters. Drawing Captain Crunch in the style of Art Deco wouldn’t save me from being sued by Quaker Oats. It’s the same case here.

They’ve now got an obviously Drizzt and Guenhwyvar stretch goal as well. Well, Guenhwyvar is OK as a panther is a panther, but the Drizzt is pretty blatant.

Soulfinger : that condescending ‘dictionary definition’ would have been a whole lot more meaningful if you’d just said ‘likeness’. You didn’t – you said exact likeness, which means exactly the same. I take your point, but there’s no need to be so passive-aggressive when making it. The colour changes are certainly interesting – clearly someone was woirried! XD
