WizKids have posted their first preview of the upcoming Halo Heroclix game.

From their website:

Today we offer a special bonus sneak peek to launch our previews of the upcoming HeroClix release, HALO. We could think of no one better to start off with than Master Chief and Cortana.

Master Chief and Cortana begin the game with a very useful special power, Strategic Positioning; this special power allows Master Chief and Cortana to use both Running Shot and Stealth, meaning not only can they manuever for that critical shot but if positioned correctly they can also hide from retaliatory ranged attacks. Penetrating/Psychic Blast represents the Master Chief and Cortana’s ability to pinpoint their opponent’s weak points, while Outwit allows them to counter a power or ability of their choice.

They had a HALO minis game which sucked and bombed … now they are dropping it on Heroclix? Will be interesting to see how it goes. HALO is alot about vehicles and things … I haven’t played much Heroclix but I wonder how that works within the confines of that game?

I think the main reason that Haloclix bombed was that it wasn’t compatible with Heroclix to begin with (much like Horrorclix). As a Heroclix player, I know I would have purchased Haloclix and Horrclix figures if they were created using the same costing and stat system and could face off against my Ghost Rider, Dr. Fate or Iron Fist.

I think WizKids/NECA is finally doing things right by making the Halo, Gears of War, Street Fighter, Lord of the Rings, etc. clix games compatible, as it allows people to get together and play a single crossover game using all the properties they enjoy.

Now I will patiently await the day when they decide to remake the Aliens/Predator sets with proper Heroclix stats and point values…

  • My kids have already told me ‘I’m’ getting this when it’s released (they told me when they saw the previous images of the minis), we don’t have the video game, it’s simply the look of the dudes and the whole ‘feel’ of the IP that the kids like.

I had thought this would just be a re-release of the original Actionclix set. New figures would certainly get my intrest enough to look at them.

I am all over Heroclix and all about Halo, but gotta say….this is not stirring my mush. The more stuff from HC that comes, the less impressed in am when they tinker with game play.
