The Gold Age of Comics bagan back in 1938. Many of the foundations of what we think of now as “superheroes” were laid out. You’ve got early comics like Superman throwing around that car and Captain America punching out Hitler. Well, combine that with Champions, one of the most well-known and longest-lasting superhero RPGs and mix them together and you get the Golden Age Champions supplement book which is up on Kickstarter now.

So, what do you get in the book? Well, there’s a look at early superhero storytelling, helping you create a campaign filled with the feeling of those early comic books. There’s a history of the world from 1938 to 1950, both in the real world and the Champions world, giving you a knowledge base to get your campaign going. Need help making your character? There’s a section on that, too. There’s even an encyclopedia of Superheroes that lists out vital information for all the heroes of the Golden Age.

The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now. It’s about 3/4 funded with still 13 days left on the clock.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

I still eagerly await the day when someone gets a superhero RPG right. I’ve only played three, but they all had their faults. They could be dealt with through house rules for the most part, but so far nothing, for me at least, has nailed it out of the box.
