It would seem as though, once more, the world has come to an end. Damnit, Carl! I told you that you should go to the doctor to get that cough checked out! Now the world is overrun by rapidly-mutating people and animals. We have to get to the laboratory where the virus was created and see if we can find a cure before all hope is entirely lost. That's also the story behind Virus, a new board game that's up on Kickstarter now.
In the game, players are some of the last survivors on Earth, looking to infiltrate the military lab where the Virus was first created. The hope is that they can find an antidote. But there's all sorts of horribly mutated monsters roaming the halls that they'll have to sneak past or blast their way through. The game features real-time modality and four different game modes, from entirely cooperative all the way to competitive, as well as a solo variant. The monsters are "AI by Players" that balances between the players picking what happens with special rules for how monsters move and attack. And if your character dies, the game's not over. You become one of the monsters roaming the halls with a new set of objectives in your new state.
The campaign's up and running now. They're already over their funding goal, so it's on to stretch goals for the next 28 days.
