I ain't afraid of no ghosts.
But the people that choose to spend the night at Creepstone Manor will be. The dark and spooky house had been left, abandoned for decades. Then some entrepreneurs came and decided to turn it into a swanky hotel. However, despite the fact that nobody was living at the manor, it wasn't exactly unoccupied, and the residents aren't happy with the new changes being made. As such, the various ghosts are looking to scare away the guests. That's the story behind Ghostel, a new board game that's up on Kickstarter now.
The game is a dice game with worker-placement elements. Each round of the game is split into Day and Night phases. During the day, new guests come to book rooms, and those that were already there fool themselves into thinking the horrors of the night before were just a dream. But up in the attic, the ghosts are regrouping, planning their strategies and upping their Terror bonuses. Then, during the Night, the ghosts roam freely throughout the hotel, trying to frighten the guests. Players earn VPs for guests that leave, sharing those points based on how much scaring they did for that particular guest.
The campaign's about 3/5 funded with still 22 days left to go on the clock.
