From the post:
The Shisai and Samurai of the Ito clan feel no fear even in the heart of enemy territories when they are escorted by the Jade Mamba Guard. Their loyalty to the rulers of Izu is total and unquestionable. Their number made up of the faithful of Orochi and a strict selection process ensures that only the best remain and are allowed to take on the honor of guarding the Ito elite. Although the training is a closely guarded secret it is whispered that the final test for the recruit is to put his or her hand into a basket containing the deathly Jade Mamba, if the prospect’s loyalty is not total they are bitten and left to die in excruciating agony.
Whether with yari or the fabled Arquebus the ashigaru stationed at Ryu are staunchly loyal to the Takashi and will defend their clan to the death. They are trained and drilled relentlessly to ensure that in battle they act and react instinctively, unflinching as they wait for orders from their Gunso or samurai commanders. The Arquebusers see it as such an honor to be picked into the regiment that it is said that they even take them on their final journey to Hantaisoku. The fear their weapons create is rightly deserved as there is little that can stand up to the raw power, steel, wood and fire fused into this fearsome device.
