Well, it's happened again. The world's come to an end. Damnit, Carl! I told you to not push that button. Now humanity is spread across a nuclear wasteland, having to huddle together, scavenge resources from the surrounding desert, recruit new survivors, and perform research for the Arc in order to get the world back to a somewhat-livable state. That's also the situation in GCT Studios' new board game, The Pioneers Program, which is up on Kickstarter now.
In the game, players are in charge of their own wasteland town. On your turn, you can do things like expand your town, recruit survivors, research new technologies, or explore the surrounding area in order to find resources. It's a delicate balance because upkeep on items means you can't expand too quickly, new recruits might go to another town to give their expertise, or you can attract hordes of Viralz from out in the wastes. It's not going to be easy to keep your town going successfully. And always keep an eye towards your other players, as they might decide to come a-raiding.
The Kickstarter campaign's up and running now. They're about 1/3 of the way to their goal already with still 27 days left on the clock.
