Games Workshop is now taking advance orders for their new Empire Battalion box set.

From the release:

This set contains 20 Empire State Troops (which include the option for a command group); 10 State Handgunners (which can alternatively be built as 10 Crossbowmen and includes the option for a command group); a Great Cannon and three crew members (which can alternatively be built as a Mortar); and 8 Empire Knights (which include the option for a command group). These miniature are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Paints.

in my opinion these box sets are complete waste of time and money as the stuff they put in most of them isn’t what the gamers actually want.

i said years ago they should take a poll on what their customer base would like in the new battallias for both their core systems and if they got this sorted they would actually sell more of them.

also the amount you save nowadays isn’t worth much especially when you compare against other companies who sell batallias for smliar amounts yet give you almost £100 of figures for the same outlay.

this sort of thing is why i stopped playing GW games and sold all my stuff, second hand GW makes good money simply because of the high cost of buying new stuff, the only good thing about having any IMHO

  • I agree with your assessment of the “value” of these.. however, our comments will probably be deleted because we’re not praising the mighty GW.

20 figures! Twenty? That hardly seems to be a “battalion box.” Even with a higher price point, at least put in a unit of 20 infantry and a hero. This doesn’t even make a good standard starting force. Jezzuz.

Seriously dude, read the post. 20 state troops, PLUS 10 missile troops, a cannon and 8 knights.
