Gale Force Nine Looking For Help at Summer Conventions

I have never been to a convention where I wasn't working for some gaming company. Back in the day, it was Privateer Press, doing things like running Tour of Duty for 40 hours, or Iron Arena (where, among other shifts, I once did a 24 hour shift). Then, of course, once I took over this gig, I was doing TGN coverage at shows. I honestly wouldn't know what to do at a convention if I wasn't working it. It's, honestly, pretty awesome. If you want to see what it's like to work a show, Gale Force Nine is looking for people to help out at Origins and Gen Con.

From the announcement:

Once again Gale Force Nine and Battlefront Miniatures have a busy summer planned. We will be attending both the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio and Gen Con 50 in Indianapolis, Indiana. At these shows we will showcase our newest boardgames and expansion releases, including many that will be releasing between now and the shows. We have a lot of to share with attendees this year including new expansions for Star Trek: Ascendancy and Tyrants of the Underdark as well as Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks and a brand new Firefly game!

At Origins, GF9 and Battlefront will be presenting our boardgames, featuring Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks and fan-favorites Firefly: The Game, Tyrants of the Underdark, Star Trek: Ascendancy and TANKS. We’ll also be hosting events and tournaments for the new edition of Flames of War and Team Yankee. We’re looking for volunteers to help us play these games and run these events for the show attendees.

The Origins Game Fair runs Wednesday, June 14 through Sunday, June 18 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Both our events and exhibitor display will be located in the Events Hall.

In the Gen Con events hall this year we’ll be running games of Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks, Star Trek: Ascendancy, Tyrants of the Underdark and our new Firefly game. On Saturday we’ll host our first Gen Con TANKS tournament. We’re also looking for some bright and engaging people to run demo games in our booth in the Exhibitor’s Hall.

This year Gen Con will be held Thursday, August 17 through Sunday, August 20 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are hosting events in the Events Hall Thursday through Saturday.

If you are already planning to attend these shows and would like to help GF9 at these events, please let us know! In exchange for your help for two days, GF9 will provide you with a ticket to the event as well as a generous assortment of Gale Force Nine boardgames, including all of our newest titles, expansions, and our show special items worth over $300. Volunteers will have to make their own travel, lodging and meal arrangements for the shows.

You don’t need to be an expert in the game to help out just somebody who likes to show and teach people how great the gaming hobby is; your enthusiasm is the key. We will provide you with what you need before the show to get prepared for all the new titles. If would like to attend two of the biggest gaming conventions in the country and join our team please send an e-mail to!
