Sly Kly launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to fund “Floating Face” dice sets.

From the campaign:

Floating Face Dice are precision machined from a solid piece of metal into 2 pieces. The middle of the die is loose and moves freely, but will not come out.

I wish there were even more announcements of such tremendously original and useful kickstarter projects on TGN…

I can’t believe how many people have pledge on this already. $7 for a d6? I guess if you play fudge you’ve saved so much money on rules that you can afford to way over-pay for the most common and least expensive of all die. If I ever need more d6’s, I think I’ll stick with the Chessex bricks of 36 which runs about 17 cents a die.

Some people enjoy the novelty of dice and are willing to pay more for unusual ones. I own two Heavy Metal Giant d20 dice from Crystal Caste. They were expensive, yes, but it was always fun scaring the crap out of my Magic opponent when I dropped one of those on the table when rolling for initiative.

  • Besides the issue of cost – I wonder of the practicality of having such a die. The free floating face thing would throw off the balance wouldn’t it? Other than that I think it’s cool as heck, but I collect minis not dice personally.
