Fantasy Flight Games announced the next 4 ships that’ll be coming out for the X-Wing Miniatures Game.

From the announcement:

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the next wave of single starship expansions for X-Wing™!

The HWK-290™ Expansion Pack, Lambda-class Shuttle™ Expansion Pack, B-Wing™ Expansion Pack, and TIE Bomber™ Expansion Pack are scheduled to arrive in the third quarter of 2013. Each of these expansions comes with a detailed miniature starship, accurately rendered at the same 1/270 scale as the game’s other ships (as always, we worked closely with Lucasfilm Ltd. to ensure the correct sizes of each ship), and includes multiple ship cards, upgrades, a maneuver dial, and all necessary tokens.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

It will be interesting to see the Lambda shuttle. It’s a huge beast of a ship, especially with that fin, and if they stick to a common scale, it should be a sizeable mini.

I look forward to not being able to find these in stock anywhere.

    • Gallahad

Ha! This gave me a good chuckle.

Local shop has a stack of millenium falcons yet has only gotten like 6 fighters since the release of wave 2.

      • Ghool

        Ditto that.
I also look forward to wanting these, and unable to get them until wave 4…

My local shop has only ever had very brief shortages, and the game is very popular here.

Was never a huge fan of Dark Forces, and am therefore not too crazy about the weird ship from it.

  • BaconSlayer

Yeah, I think the common reaction to that ship is ‘WTF?’

It probably would have been better if they just did three ships in that wave. The Bomber and B would have given both sides a heavier/bomby fighter, and then do the Lambda as a neutral shuttle that had both Imperial and Rebel pilots. I guarantee that whatever elite Imperial pilot they gave it would not be near as cool as Han ‘Just Fly Casual’ Solo.

I’ve only seen happy reactions to the news of including Kyle Katarn into the game. The game was obviously going to extend into the expanded universe material, otherwise those 3 final ships would have been it for the line. Game wouldn’t have much longevity if it was stuck with just 11 ships for the era. Rest of the ships from the movie are way too big for the game. They got alot of ships they can add into the game now

      • Riquende

        There’s also a TIE shuttle in ESB…

But no, you’re right re: longevity, and I’m glad the game is moving into the OT-era EU (as long as they don’t get silly with it) rather than start producing prequel-era material.

A friend keeps teasing me about how ‘cool’ it would be to have Naboo starfighters in the game. With an Anakin card.

  • The Moldy Crow is a slightly odd choice but it means the limit of classic era ships seen in the movies has been blown out to encompass hundreds of other ones from the extended universe from Video Games, comics and novels. I look forward to seeing Skipray Blastboats, TIE Defenders, Starwing Missile Gunboats, Z-95 Headhunters, YT-2000 Otana, YT-2400 Outrider and lots more.

Assume the Lady Luck will be included, as they can also toss in a Mara Jade pilot card into it too.

I must literally be the only Star Wars fan who has no interest in this.

Was trying to figure out why. The whole race to buy the ships before they are gone just bothers me. It is like a carry over from pre-painted plastic ‘limited editions’ from mage knight. Strangely, while supposedly being not limited….

Guess it is that way with anything super popular. Good luck to you guys getting a ship, and you owe me a thanks for not buying one so you couldn’t get yours 😀

  • pete_melvin

You’re not the only SW fan not into this Kel. 20 odd quid for a lump of pre-painted plastic churned out by the million by Chinese kids is criminal.

Your ethnocentric babel of a response is very offensive. I am sorry you do not enjoy the superior products churned out by the million by Chinese workers (Apple computers, iPhones, iPods, iPads; Nikon and Canon Cameras, lenses; Many of the top televisions from Sony and Samsung. Not to mention some of the big brands from Germany being made in China.) Offensive, racist and uneducated. This type of comment should be struck from this website.

      • I am not sure we read the same thing? He is not putting down the Chinese – He is actually ragging on FFG…

Although I agree there is nothing wrong with Chinese products, I feel the mark-up made by the company is sometimes nuts – which is what I think pete was saying.

  • keltheos

I felt the same way you guys do too, just not quite as bitterly. 😉

Then I played the game and found that the mechanics are fairly solid and it’s playable right out of the starter box. There’s no need to ‘rush to get’ my ships. I’ll enjoy it with what I have and buy new ones when I can/they’re available. Anyone who’s played FFG games in the past should be aware of their less-than-stellar abilities to keep their popular products on the shelves when they first release.

As for 20 odd quid…it’s a fully assembled, painted model with gaming cards and counters. It’s not mandatory that a player buys it for the game, so if you’d prefer to not spend your money on it…have at it. 🙂

To date, I have yet to buy three models from the current line and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. But, to each his own.

It is based on the Wings of War system, is it not?
