Ember: The Magical Card Game is a new... well... card game from District 31 where players take on the role of apprentice wizards all looking to impress their classmates via the casting of powerful spells and conjuring bigger and better creatures. The game is up on Kickstarter now.
It works by players spending spell component cards from their hands in order to summon the creatures. The standard version of the game (there are 4 different ways to play included in the rules, including a solo form), players get a hand of 5 cards. You can discard a card to draw a new card if you want. You can then hopefully summon a creature. The bigger and more powerful the creature, the rarer the components are for its summoning. Will you grab some quick monsters right away, or hold out to try and get the bigger and better ones later? The strategy is up to you.
The campaign's a bit more than 1/2 funded with still 12 days left to go.
