Doublesix Dice up now on Kickstarter

Doublesix Dice are dodecahedron dice that have 1-6 on them twice that are supposedly better at rolling and balance than traditional d6. They’ve got a campaign going now on Kickstarter to fund them.

From the campaign:

By making the d6 a dodecahedron, the die will not only roll better, but be more weight-balanced as opposing sides have the same number of engraved pips.

Doublesix Dice can also be the perfect gateway accessory: Swap in your Doublesixes for the stale dice in your non-gamer friends’ games (like Monopoly and Backgammon), and soon they will be wanting to take on Advanced D&D.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

I’ve had one of these in my dicebox for 15 years. I don’t remember the source, but I don’t think this is a fresh new idea that really needs kickstarting.

It would be pretty cool if they put 1 through 12 on them. I bet I could find a use for that. They could do all sorts of shapes! Like maybe one with eight sides and another with twenty.

I am not terribly concerned with the overall randomness of my d6’s.

Because of your perfectly balanced GameScience dice?

      • Marauder

No just cause I don’t really care. Its not like I’m running a casino and that my lack of pure randomness would really impact my life.

So, you’ve never had to go to the emergency room from drinking too many tequila shots on account of a one drink per critical fumble house rule? No cash wagers on the outcomes of your WH40K games or real money Monopoly games? Man, you’ve got it easy.

I’ll do Bilbo one better and wish them all the success they deserve.
