From the preview:

Well, we gave the Skarrd some first-look love last week, so now it is time to switch gears (pun intended) and show another picture from the newest death dealers in Dark Age… the CORE.

Today we have some art from one of the single scariest Units found in Dark Age: Devastation.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.
  • Definitely has a Therian (AT-43) vibe going on. I like it.

I’m confused, I thought Dark Age was a post-apoc game with no real hefty tech in it. Is this Core some lost tech faction? Like the Might and Magic end games?

Dark Age’s world is based of a planet where originally massive corporations were performing secret project and testing on humans. Very high tech. When a financial and structural collapse forced them to leave and go back home they left everybody not deemed “valuable” and took all the technology they could grab.

Hence the Mad max style post-apoc style of the game.

I don’t know for sure but my guess is that the Core (just like the brood faction) is a direct result of some research gone bad… in this case probably AI as opposed to chemical/biological. Check out the background on the Rends (that hint they were used for some sort of tasks by the corporations): http://dark-age.com/content.php?130-The-Mighty-Rends-%E2%80%93-the-CORE%E2%80%99s-Wrecking-Crew

The fact that they are flesh eating to me means that the AI was trying to find a fuel in a fuel free world…
