Hacking computer system. Laser rifles. Flying cars. Elves. Monks. Bards. You usually see the first trio mixed together, but not so often with the last three. code::2050 looks to change that. The core::2050 book for the game is a setting book and set of rules to bring 5th edition to a cyberpunk dystopian world. The book is up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
code::2050 is a lightweight ruleset extension that gently layers onto the d20 5e system without changing a single existing rule. It keeps everything you love about the greatest roleplaying game: the combat, the races, the monsters, the magic, and adds tech: drones, cars, computers, guns, explosions.
2050 loves tech! Everyone has a smartphone, and everyone has basic computer skills. Some kick it up a notch, bending technology to their will by becoming Hackers.
Hackers? Yep, 2050 has those. In fact, we’ve added 3 new subclasses to every 5e class. That’s 36 new subclasses in all! And many have a uniquely modern bent, like the Hacker Rogue and his custom rig, or the Urban Ranger and his adorable drone companions. Plus a hyperactive monk who does parkour, a smooth-talking bard whose fingers are faster than his mouth, and a bulgy barbarian with a bad case of ‘roid rage.
You want to use guns? Of course you do! And code::2050 has them. But don’t expect them to mow down enemies like a weed whacker goes at dandelions. Game balance is a core tenet of code::2050. Guns are the new hotness, but traditional D&D weapons still work just as well as they ever did, and often better than modern weapons.
The campaign is up and running now and is set to go for another 25 days.
