Chaosium Announces Winners of 2024 Greg Stafford Memorial Award for Gloranthan Fandom
Chaosium has announced the winners of the 2024 Greg Stafford Memorial Award for Gloranthan Fandom, recognizing significant contributions to Gloranthan fan culture. This year’s award is presented to David Hall, Kevin Jacklin, Dan Barker, and David Cheng for their work in running the freeform game “Home of the Bold” at Chaosium Con in Ann Arbor last April.
“Home of the Bold” is an epic Gloranthan live-action roleplaying game that last ran over two decades ago. Its return at Chaosium Con marked the first time in 24 years that the game—which involves over 50 players over eight hours—was staged, introducing it to a new generation of fans. The event was also held at Continuum in Bedford, UK, in July.
Chaosium Vice President Michael O’Brien commended the winners for their longstanding contributions to Glorantha fandom. He noted that each of the winners had played important roles in supporting and expanding the Glorantha universe over the years, whether through artwork, conventions, writing, or community efforts. He emphasized that while this award specifically recognizes their efforts in 2024, each recipient has made numerous important contributions to the community over the years.
“Home of the Bold” originally debuted in 1992 at Convulsion in Leicester, UK, and went on to be played at notable conventions worldwide. The revival in 2024 was accompanied by a special new edition of “A Rough Guide to Boldhome,” which serves as the official sourcebook for the game and is available in digital formats.
The Greg Stafford Memorial Award for Gloranthan Fandom was established in 2018 in memory of Chaosium’s founder, Greg Stafford, to honor outstanding contributions to the Glorantha community. This year marks the sixth anniversary of Stafford’s passing, and the award continues to celebrate the creativity and dedication of Glorantha’s fans.
