Monday Terrain Corner

It’s President’s Day here in the States. That means that many people are off of work. Hey, at least that means clearer roads around here today. I can certainly dig that.
But, as it’s also a Monday, it means we need to make your gaming tables look as good as possible.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Mos Eisley Back Alleys Skirmish Map for Imperial Assault Now Available; Heroic Maps – Modular Kit: Desert City – Streets, Rooftops & Markets Now Available; Frontier Land Games Releases River Town Map; and Frosty Plain Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame.

Anvil Eight Previews More Rhommox Sculpts for Aetherium

The Rhommox are unlike other factions for Aetherium. They’re not out for a particular ideology or simply trying to conduct business in a new form. They only want to spread, infect, and destroy. As such, their tactics are different from how others operate. And their figures are much more alien. Check out the Volatile sculpts below.

Limited Time Necromunda Re-Releases and New Stormcast Figure Available From Games Workshop

What’s old is new again. Since Necromunda has re-hit tabletops, players are getting nostalgic for some of the figures that used to be available for the game. Well, Games Workshop is here to help. For this week only, they’re taking orders for some classic figures. But it’s not only Necromunda with something new. Age of Sigmar is getting Neave Blacktalon as her own piece, instead of having to buy the previous box set to get her.

Fantasy Flight Previews AT-RT For Star Wars: Legion

While we never see the Rebels using the AT-RT in the classic trilogy of Star Wars films, it was a piece of equipment that they could’ve possibly picked up, as we see Clone Troopers using them in the prequel trilogy. Not as heavily armed or armored as the AT-ST, the vehicle still gave some added protection to its rider, as well as some powerful weapons that a regular soldier wouldn’t’ve been able to carry on their own. They’ll be making their way to Star Wars: Legion, and Fantasy Flight is giving you a preview.

Review Roundup

Saturday. How wonderful a day. I hope you’re taking advantage of it. I ran a bunch of errands this morning. Now I’m working on painting, of all things. I can’t tell you the last time I painted minis. It’s been quite a while.

But while I wait for this color to dry, lets get you the reviews I know you all so desperately desire.

This week, we have articles on: Alphas Volume #1, Lucky’s Misadventures, Act of Treason, Wildcatters, Konja, Hero Realms: Ruin of Thandar, Hunt for the Ring, Decrypto, Minute Realms, Civilization: New Dawn, and Star Trek Adventures.

Star Wars: Legion Demos Coming To Select Retailers March 8th

It feels like an eternity ago when Star Wars: Legion was announced at Gen Con. You’ve spent many long months waiting, anticipating, reading previews, watching videos. Maybe you’re even one of the lucky few who got a chance to try it way back in August. Well, the wait is getting shorter all the time, and if you want to get a hands-on experience with the game, you’re only 3 weeks (and change) out from doing so if your LGS is one of the lucky ones who will get to start showing demos of the product on March 8th.

Infinity RPG Now Available In Print Form

Sure, Infinity is set in a distant future where humanity’s spread out among the stars, and I’m sure that paper books are a bit passe, and even these days, many people like books in digital form. But I’m an old fuddy-duddy who likes to actually have a book in-hand when I can. So I’m in luck (and if you’re like me, you are, too), as the Infinity RPG is now available in print form.

Hey there, flyboys and girls. Fantasy Flight has a new set of X-Wing ships coming out soon. One’s like previous “Aces” sorts of sets, this time with an X-Wing and a U-Wing. The other is a new TIE variant. Both come from Rogue One (so they say).

Black Earth: Heavy Metal Sci-Fi Expansion Up On Kickstarter

Fantasy Flight Announces Knights of Fate Book For Star Wars RPG

I mean, it’s called Star Wars, not Star Sit and Talk It Out. While the Jedi do look to try and have peaceful resolutions to problems, they also are trained warriors, ready to clash lightsabers with anyone who might do them or any other peaceful being harm. The Knights of Fate book, coming soon for the Star Wars RPG, gives players more options for combat-oriented characters. There’s also 3 new races you can choose from, plus other special abilities and updates.

Monday Terrain Corner

So… it’s Monday.
Maybe we shouldn’t dwell on that, but, instead remember the games we all (hopefully) played on the weekend. Heck, my gaming started before I even left the office on Friday with a game of the Bloodborne Card Game. Then a game of Guild Ball on Saturday. Always wanting to get in more games of that. Plus, there’s always looking forward to next weekend’s games… and the terrain they’ll be using. And with that, we go to the Terrain Corner.

Today we have: Anvil Eight Previews Rhommox Faction Pylon, ShipWorks 3d Printable Ship Terrain Up on Kickstarter, Operation Alpha: SciFi Gaming Mat Available from Pwork Wargame, and Return Of The Gaming Mat From Battlefront.

Fantasy Flight Previews Command Cards From Star Wars: Legion

Commanders in an army are the ones who give orders to the lower-ranking soldiers. These orders are represented in Star Wars: Legion, by you moving the figures around the board, but also by the Command Cards. They determine who will have priority during a turn, being played at the start of each. There are some that are neutral, and can be used by either army. But some are specific to the Dark or Light sides. You get a look at several of these in this preview.

WYSIWYGames Posts Planet of the Apes Preview

I’m guessing most of you weren’t around when the original Planet of the Apes movie came out. I mean, it was 50 years ago, as of yesterday. But even if you didn’t see Charlton Heston screaming, “You blew it up! You maniacs!” on the silver screen during its initial release, you can still get pumped about the setting, as well as the games based on it. In this case, it’s WYSIWYGames with their upcoming Planet of the Apes miniatures board game. They’ve got a preview showing off what you can expect to see in terms of minis.

Friday Snippets

Hello, Friday, my old friend.
As usual, Friday’s one of my favorite days of the week, busy as it often is. But busy’s good. It’ll make the day go by quick and I can get to the weekend that much faster. Not 100% sure what I’ll get into this weekend. I think I want to make a cheesecake, though. Got a new recipe. We’ll see how it goes. But there’s also a heavy chance for gaming, and if I’m going to be gaming, I should probably fill up on gaming-related stories.

Today on the platter we have: Kromlech Weekend Deal on Dice, Iconic Blue Dice Set Coming This Evening From Kraken Dice, Statuesque Heroic Scale Female Heads – Techno Roiders on sale now at 10% off, Norse Foundry Teams with Elderwood Academy to Launch Mini Metal Dice and Mini Hex Chest on Kickstarter, Brigade Models Releases New 15mm Neo-Soviet Heavy Tank, Ouroboros Miniatures Running CP_New Skin Bust Kickstarter, and Limited Edition Valentine’s Orc Available From Punga Miniatures.

Bit of a shotgun release week for Forge World. You’ve got a new Primarch in the form for Rogal Dorn. You’ve got some Legio Custodes characters and bits (space janitors have the coolest gear). Then there’s the Space Wolf terminators and bits. And, of course, new Hired Guns for Necromunda. Like I said, a bit of everything going on.

Shades Of Chaos Games Releases Outlands 2nd Edition

Games occasionally need a bit of tweaking. Try as the developers might, something might not work as intended, or things might just feel stale, or they come up with new ideas for better mechanics that don’t work within the current rules. As such, they revise things and we get a new edition. That’s what we’ve got here with Outlands from Shades of Chaos. The space sci-fi spaghetti western-style game has a new edition you can pick up now.

Midweek Snippets

The week continues to chug along. We’ve made it halfway there. Just another couple leaps and we’ll be back to the weekend. I’m excited to hopefully get back to the Tails of Equestria game we’ve been playing here at the office. It’s been since before the holidays that we managed to have our last session. So it’ll be good to get back into the swing of things. But if I’m going to be at the office late, I should probably grab a snack of some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: The D20 Collective Running Metal Gaming Coins Kickstarter, Brigade Models Release More British Aeronef, New Mercenaries Miniatures Available From Brother Vinni, and Kraken Dice Iconic Blue Giveaway.

Prodos Posts February Releases For Alien Vs. Predator

You’ve probably heard the saying, “you’ve got my heart in your hands” in some love song or bit of poetry or written in a sappy romance novel. Wreck Age: 2nd Edition Rulebook Now Available

Well, the world’s come to an end again. Damnit, Todd, I told you that “the nuclear option” didn’t mean just launching all the missiles and hoping for the best. Now we’ve got to find ways to survive in this post-apocalyptic wasteland. Thankfully, we used to play a bunch of Wreck Age, so we’re well-prepared. And with those updates in the 2nd edition, it’ll be that much easier.
If you’d like to be like me and Todd, super-prepared for the end of civilization, I suggest you get a hold of the new 2nd Edition of Wreck Age, which is available now.

Anvil Eight Previews The Vector For Aetherium

In physics, a vector is something that has both velocity and direction. In Aetherium, it’s a nasty program that is part of the Rhommox faction. That isn’t to say that it doesn’t also have velocity and direction. The velocity is “as fast as it can” and the direction is “into the heart of the enemy forces, where it’s bound to tear stuff up.”

Fantasy Flight Previews the Rebel Troopers Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion

While the Empire had their huge, military machine. The Rebels could only count on those individuals willing to pick up arms and fight. Most of these troopers weren’t career soldiers, but just wanted a better form of government for the galaxy. However, though they might not have been soldiers before, they trained just as hard as veteran troops in order to become a fighting force to be reckoned with. Get a preview of the Rebel Troopers Unit Expansion pack for Star Wars: Legion here.

Trinity Continuum: AEON RPG Up On Kickstarter

Occasionally, a game will need a new edition. Mechanics that were good for a while don’t hold up as well as had been hoped. The setting can use a bit of polish. They’re up on Kickstarter looking to get a new edition made, and it looks like it’s gonna happen.
