Ostfront Releases Missile Threat (Modern Air Combat) Rules

I’d sort of always wanted to be a fighter pilot. My eyes have never been good enough for that sort of thing, but it was one of those dreams I had in the back of my mind as a kid. Now, certainly the potential of being a Top Gun are exceedingly slim, but I can still live vicariously through gaming. And that’s where Missile Threat comes in. It’s a new set of air combat rules by Ostfront that looks to accurately recreate air battles from the past 60 years. You can get your copy now (aviator glasses sold separately).

Midweek Snippets

I just realized this morning that this upcoming weekend is the last one before Christmas.
Ok, so, technically Christmas has one more weekend before it, but since it falls on a Monday, it means this upcoming week is the last one before the holiday. As such, I’ve just now realized how much baking I need to do (since that’s what I give as presents to friends). Looks like this Saturday’s shopping list is going to include a lot of unsalted butter, flour, and chocolate chips, plus whatever else I feel like throwing in. But before I get to those tasty treats, let’s get to today’s tasty treats in terms of bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: December Releases Available From Scotia Grendel, War in Christmas Village Sequel Up On Kickstarter, and HeresyLab Working on a New Line of Miniatures.

Team Yankee: Stripes Releasing Now

This new book can be picked up now. Next week, we’ll be seeing new versions of several American units, including Harriers, Abrams tanks, and AA options.

Battlefront Posts a Look Inside the Stripes Book for Team Yankee

WWIII is not currently happening. Let’s do our best to keep it that way, eh? I don’t really want Team Yankee to turn into a modern game, as opposed to just post-modern-sci-fi. So, for the meantime, these are just figurative, uh, figures. And in the Stripes book, Battlefront expands the U.S. options. Take a look at what you’ll get, and a bit more about items in this book.

Battlefront Posts New Force Org Charts for Flames of War and Team Yankee

Same goes for the generals in charge of minis games armies. Battlefront has posted up new Force Organization Charts for the Late War era in Flames of War, as well as for Team Yankee.

Friday Snippets

It’s Friday! Gateway to the weekend.
I’m… just kinda chilling. Yeah… just chilling. Not gonna really go anywhere. Not really gonna do anything special. Just… chill. I think it’s a good idea to do that occasionally. And this weekend, it’s what I want/need.
But that’s not to say we can’t still munch on some bite-sized gaming stories.

On the platter today we have: Mini Duels’ 40k Tournament Tray and Painting Station Up On Kickstarter, The ‘Spirit Of’ Extinction Dice Up On Kickstarter, Vault of Storage Up On Kickstarter, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm October Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, and 30% Off Fall Sale At TinMan.

Midweek Snippets

Halfway there.
We’re halfway to getting back to the weekend. Methinks I’m going to take it easy this weekend. I found out my LGS is going to be absolutely packed with several events running for games I don’t really play, so I’ll probably just veg at my place. I could use a relaxing couple of days, anyway. Though it does mean I still need to wait to break in my custom Guild Ball mat (more on that tomorrow. Stay tuned). In the meantime, I’m feeling a bit peckish, so how about noshing on some bite-sized gaming stories?

Today on the platter we have: New Options For Really Useful Box Storage System From Sally 4th, Statuesque Starport Able Spacewomen Now Available, New 3mm C-130 Hercules at PicoArmor, New Orc Hand Grenades Available From Kromlech, Impact! Miniatures D3 to D30 Dice Chains on KickStarter now with Cotton Candy dice, 3D Printable Tanks Up On Kickstarter, and Fantasy Stock Art & RPG Minis Up On Kickstarter.

Plausible Deniability For Skirmish Sangin Available For Pre-orders

Not every operation that the military does is going to be known to the public. There’s all sorts of deeply covert missions going on all the time using teams of super-highly-trained soldiers. These various teams are surgical in their strikes, taking out key enemy personnel and locations. And soon, you’ll be able to bring these high-tension missions to your tabletops with Plausible Deniability, a new supplement for Skirmish Sangin that’s available for pre-order now.

Thursday Terrain Corner

The work week rolls along (that’s a pun for my friend Gavin who just dumped a bunch of ball bearings on the floor, apparently). We’re another step closer to that always-anticipated weekend (at least, I always am anticipating it). Here’s to hoping yours is filled with gaming (mine will probably be filled with baking). And when gaming, it’s good to have as good-looking a gaming table as you can. So let’s help with that.

Midweek Snippets

We’re already halfway through the week. Having Monday off certainly helps with that. But as we continue our way through the week, I know I could still use a bit of a pick-me-up. So I’m going to nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Red Thunder For Team Yankee Releases Tomorrow

There’s a new book coming out for Team Yankee. It’s called Red Thunder, and as you’d expect from them, they’re having a whole day dedicated to features for it. That day, by the way, is tomorrow. It starts pretty early, too. I mean, for many of us, it’s this afternoon, since it’s beginning on New Zealand time.

Friday Snippets

Would you believe the year is half-over already? Yeah. As we stand on the cusp of July, the first half of the year is behind us. Is it going by fast for you, too? It certainly has for me. Personally, I’m ready for autumn, because it’s my favorite time of year. Plus, I want to make pumpkin pie, and if I tried to serve that now, people would be all, “… no.” Ah well. Since I can’t munch on pumpkin pie, I can still munch on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: New 15mm BMP-1P from Khurasan, New releases from Terrible Kids Stuff – July 2017, Legionary Saber Jetbike Available From Kromlech, Hand of Glory Miniatures Coming to Kickstarter Next Month, Brigade Models Release 6mm Neo-Soviet Tanks, and Cold War Miniatures Launches Hawkmen Kickstarter.

And I’m sure a lot of people in the US are going to be celebrating this weekend. With the 4th of July being a Tuesday this year, I’m guessing a lot of people are going to take this weekend to grill, shoot off some fireworks, and just celebrate America. I know I’m getting together with some friends on Saturday for just that sort of thing. I’m sure there’ll be tasty snacks there. Let’s snack on some tasty bite-sized gaming stories now, too.

Hind & Seek Miniatures Game Rules Released

Afghanistan has a pretty long history of conflict. For around a decade, it was the Russians that were trying to go in and take over the place. It didn’t turn out so well for them. But how did a technologically-superior group have such issues? Well, you can find out in Hind & Seek, a new set of rules that recreates the Soviet-Afghan war of 1979-1989. The book is available now.

Busy weeks tend to be fast weeks. This is a busy week, and therefore it is a fast week. I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already. Soon, it will once again be the weekend. Have you gotten your plans set? Mine are still a bit up in the air. The Hunter’s Guild releases didn’t come in like I was hoping they would. Perhaps this weekend (I need to ask Sketch about that). But before we get there, we should stock up on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Thursday Terrain Corner

The week continues to just crawl on by. Man, I’ve not felt a week has taken this long for quite a while. I feel like I should be typing up the Friday Snippets instead of the Thursday Terrain Corner. But here we are. What do you suppose the chances are that the weekend will be like that? Where Saturday afternoon I’ll be going, “Geeze! Isn’t it supposed to be Monday by now!?” Probably very low. But, in the meantime, let’s make your gaming tables look as good as possible.

Is this week going by slowly for everyone else, too, or is it just me? I don’t know if it’s because I’m working from home as the new office continues to be set up, or if it’s just that this week is one that’s taking forever. Maybe it’s that I don’t currently have water in the apartment (the county is coming out today to figure out what’s up with that). Whatever it might be, if I’m going to make it through the rest of the week, I need to power up with some bite-size gaming stories.

Today we have: Mantic Games Announces The Walking Dead: All Out War Premium Collector’s Edition Diorama, Khurasan releases late 16th century landsknechts, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm February Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, MegaMinis Running Robots Kickstarter, Journey To Ragnarok Coming To Kickstarter Soon, Final Day for Savage Worlds: Zombie Squad On Kickstarter, New Legionary Heavy Weapon Platform: Quad Heavy Thunder Gun Available From Kromlech, and Elder Dice Kickstarter Happening Now.

It’s Thursday and I’m at home. The Office Move continues, with much of the furniture making its way to the new building. But since the new place isn’t quite ready yet, many of us are working from home. Besides, trying to write while movers are going up and down the halls with stuff is a bit distracting.

Speaking of buildings, we’ve got a bunch of terrain stories for you today. One of the biggest Terrain Corners I can remember. So let’s get to it.

Battlefront Features East German Mot-Schützen Platoon For Team Yankee

You know, you want to have your troops well-armed to take on numerous potential adversaries. The East German Mot-Schützen platoons certainly are. From several different types of anti-tank weapons to numerous anti-infantry weapons, including grenade launchers, they can take on just about anything the West can throw at them.

Battlefront Features SA-9 Gaskin SAM Platoon For Team Yankee

In modern warfare (and it has actually been this way since about WWII), you have to make sure that enemy air power doesn’t hinder your ground forces too much. You can have your own planes try and neutralize them, but your aircraft can’t be everywhere at once. As such, having anti-aircraft elements in your forces is imperative. That can take the form of Surface-to-Air Missile launchers. And that’s just what we’ve got here for Team Yankee.

The weekend is pretty much upon us. We just need to finish up this afternoon and we’ll be there. Do you have plans? I’m still unsure. Though I think I want to make a cheesecake, because it’s been a while since I’ve made cheesecake. Probably make more strawberry-lime sauce to go with it. Or maybe I’ll do raspberry-lime. I don’t know. But there’s still time to think about it. In the meantime, we gotta fill up on some bite-size gaming stories.

On the platter today we have: West Wind Productions Announces Panzer Mech Kickstarter, Ninja Division Announces Relic Knights 2nd Edition Kickstarter, Wiley Games New Home Of Fistful of Lead, New Animal Explorers From RN Estudio, Khurasan releases M1152 with canvas cover, New Releases From Hitech Miniatures, New Release from Kromlech, and Rectangular Bases on Sale From Micro Art Studio.

Battlefront Features T-55AM2 Panzer Kompanie for Team Yankee

During wartime, you will often see equipment get hasty upgrades, looking to make those particular items better than they were coming right off the line. In this case, several T-55 tanks were upgraded to have new fire control systems as well as extra armor against enemy anti-tank weapons. The result is the T-55AM2, which you can bring to the tables of Team Yankee. Check them out here.

Battlefront Features East German Mot-Schützen Heavy Weapons For Team Yankee

Infantry are very versatile out on the battlefield. They can go through most forms of terrain, search buildings, hold ground, and be armed with many different weapons in order to take on a variety of enemy formations. When enemy vehicles bear down, it’s time for the heavy weapons crews to step up and protect the rest of the platoon.

Battlefront Features Mot-Schützen Kompanie For Team Yankee

So, we’ve seen a couple different vehicles lately for the East German forces in Team Yankee, but those APCs need to carry around someone, right? Well, that’s where the Mot-Schützen Kompanie comes in, of which we get a deeper look at in this article.

Battlefront Features Spandrel AT Platoon For Team Yankee

Versatility is important in production. If you can create an item that can be quickly adapted to fill different roles, that’s good, as it will increase production speeds since you don’t have to keep retooling entire things from scratch. The 9P148 Konkurs uses the same chassis as the BRDM-2 Recon Vehicle. However, it sports a set of missiles on top.

Battlefront Features BRDM-2 Recon Platoon For Team Yankee

If you’re looking to scout enemy formations, having a vehicle that can get over a wide range of terrain is crucial. That’s just the case with the BRDM-2. Not only can it go across open ground easily, it has an extra set of wheels that it can lower in order to make it over trenches. A river or stream in your way? Well, just drive yourself right across it, since the BRDM-2 is aquatic.

We’re once more halfway through the week. So far, it’s been a pretty standard week. After the chaos of the week before, I’m not complaining about that at all. I’m also not complaining about the temperatures we’re supposed to get to today here in Atlanta. I might just open the windows when I get home. But that’s as may be. Right now, it’s time to stock up on some bite-sized gaming stories.
