New Hail Caesar Sets Available To Order From Warlord Games

A couple of different time periods on display here in Hail Caesar today. Starting off, there’s a new supplement book, Shield Wall, which covers the Dark Ages. As with all Warlord Games books, if you order direct from them, you get an exclusive figure. They’ve also got a huge set where you can get the book, a couple starter armies, and a bunch of accessories in one go. Then, they hit the Wayback Machine to the land of Greece with the Theban Sacred Band (for if you think that all the gear the Vikings are wearing into battle is just too much).

Achaean Archers, Libyan Close Fighters + Nubian/Kushite Close Fighters now Available For Hail Caesar

Warlord Games tends to run the whole gamut of times for their games. Hail Caesar is their game that spans the most. Here, you’ve got armies as “modern” as Ancient Rome, but it goes all the way back into almost pre-history. In this case, we’re setting the Wayback Machine for the Bronze Age, with new Achaean archers as well as Libyan and Nubian melee warriors.

New Starter Army Sets Available For Hail Caesar

For many hundreds of years, warfare was practiced in a certain way in the Western world. Armies of soldiers lined up shoulder-to-shoulder, with a round shield in front of them and a long spear in hand. The phalanx was the ancient world’s version of the tank, essentially. And even as military advancements came along, the idea of standing shoulder-to-shoulder stuck for quite a long time. Well, if you’re wanting to get back to war’s roots, you can with these new starter armies for the Greeks and Spartans (yes, I know that Sparta was part of Greece, but look, I don’t name these things. Plus, the various city-states really didn’t consider themselves one country (far from it, in fact), so there’s that as well) for Hail Caesar.

Gangs of Rome Now Available From Warlord Games

As the Roman Empire aged, it didn’t do so gracefully. Corruption ate away at the noble core, Rome, itself. As powerful individuals vied for even more power, they would get together gangs to take to the streets. Those gangs would do whatever they could in order to see their benefactor make it to the vaunted Senate. Now you can recreate those times with Gangs of War, a new miniatures skirmish game available now from Warlord Games.
Want to try it before you buy it? They’ve got a free rules download available.

Warlord Games Taking Pre-Orders For The Roman Invasion of Britain Set

Roman conquests spanned more than just the area around the Mediterranean. They took over much of continental Europe and then made eyes at the isles just across the sea. The British Isles seemed ripe for invasion. However, all the Brits living there at the time didn’t quite see it that way. There was much fierce fighting that you will soon be able to bring to your tabletop with the Roman Invasion of Britain set for Hail Caesar, available for pre-order now from Warlord Games.

Early Egyptian and Nubian Javelinmen Available From Warlord Games

Early warfare was pretty simple (relatively speaking). Take a stick. Attach something really pointy to the end. Throw at the enemy. In a way, we’re not really all that different now (just the points don’t have to be as sharp, or the sticks as big, because we make those things go really, really, really fast). But if you’d like to have your warfare at throwing distance, Warlord Games can help with some new Egyptian and Nubian Javelinmen kits.

Grand Manoeuvre Releases Bella Contra Barbaros, Rome’s Wars with the Barbarians Rules

One of the biggest empires the Earth has known was that of the Romans. They turned the Mediterranean into their own, private lake and pushed far up into Europe with their conquests. There, they found all manner of tribes they simply called “barbarians.” For hundreds of years, the Romans and these barbarians had… disagreements over who was in charge of what bits of land, and so there were quite a few wars that were fought. Now, you can bring those wars to your tabletop with Bella Contra Barbaros, a new set of miniatures rules from Grand Manoeuvre.

The week continues to just crawl on by. Man, I’ve not felt a week has taken this long for quite a while. I feel like I should be typing up the Friday Snippets instead of the Thursday Terrain Corner. But here we are. What do you suppose the chances are that the weekend will be like that? Where Saturday afternoon I’ll be going, “Geeze! Isn’t it supposed to be Monday by now!?” Probably very low. But, in the meantime, let’s make your gaming tables look as good as possible.

Man, no day has felt entirely “right” this week. Monday was an amalgam of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Tuesday was like a Monday. Wednesday was kinda like a Friday. Yesterday was like a Saturday, but a lot busier. Today’s… still getting started, honestly. But it doesn’t entirely feel like a Friday. I guess that’s what happens when you bookend 2 days at the office with days working from home.
Well, one way that today is going to feel like a proper Friday is by serving up some bite-sized gaming stories. Also, pizza for dinner. But that’s not until this evening.

Today on the platter we have: Quizmania Coming To Kickstarter, Donate and get a Free Book From Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Expedition RPG Launches Quest-Writing Competition, New Xyston Miniatures Releases Available, Wamp releases two new 1/12th Scale busts, Pipmen Playing Cards Up On Kickstarter, Ravage: Dungeons of Plunder Coming to Kickstarter, and New Legion Armoury Releases Available From Kromlech.

Thursday Terrain Corner

It’s Thursday and I’m at home. The Office Move continues, with much of the furniture making its way to the new building. But since the new place isn’t quite ready yet, many of us are working from home. Besides, trying to write while movers are going up and down the halls with stuff is a bit distracting.

Speaking of buildings, we’ve got a bunch of terrain stories for you today. One of the biggest Terrain Corners I can remember. So let’s get to it.

Today we have: New Webshop Open For Last Sword Miniatures, Battlefield in a Box: Medium Desert House Available From Battlefront, Mage Company Features 12 Realms: Dungeonland Scenery Packs, Classic Columns Now Available From Tabletop-Art, Champion’s Bowl Game Mat Available From Warzone Studio, New Gaming Mats Available From Frontline Gaming, Sailpower multi-scale Ships Up On Kickstarter, New Normandy Terrain From Najewitz Modellbau, Battlefield in a Box: Desert Escarpments Available From Battlefront, Manorhouse Workshop & RGFX collaboration: The Dark Crypt (Fog Tower), Valdisfjell The West Door Map Available From Heroic Maps, Warland Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, Battlefield in a Box: Desert Palms Available From Battlefront, and New Orc Barrels Available From Kromlech.

We’ve arrived, beautiful readers. Friday is here and we’re making our way through it to the weekend. It won’t be long now and there’ll be a couple great days of just hanging out and maybe doing some gaming. I’m happy because my friend came back from LVO and brought me the new Season 3 cards and a couple players for Guild Ball. So I’ll be assembling Granite and Veteran Siren either tonight or tomorrow, with them hopefully seeing the pitch soon. Best to make sure I’m well-fed on some bite-sized gaming stories.

We’ve made it back to Friday. The weekend stretches before us like an empty canvass, ready to be painted with all the colors in life’s palate…

Monday Terrain Corner

We’re once again at the beginning of the week. It’s ok, though, at least for me, because I have cheesecake with raspberry-lime sauce (I did say I was going to make some over the weekend). That should help tide us over to next weekend, where gaming will be had (hopefully). And if there’s going to be gaming, there should be good-looking gaming tables. So let’s help with that.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: New Algoryn Orbital Transmat from Sarissa precision, New wave of 15mm terrains from Terrains4Games, Brigade Models Release 2mm Roman Fort, and Walking Dead miniature game mat release from Deep-Cut Studio.

Thursday Terrain Corner

And just like that, we’ve made it to Thursday. The weekend is almost within our grasp. Hopefully you have gaming-related plans. This weekend is the first Board Game Day up at the Milton Library for the year. They took last November and December off, but they’re back once again. If you don’t have an LGS that you can go and play at, perhaps talk to your local library about getting a Games Day going there.

As for the exact moment, we need to make sure your gaming tables look as good as possible.

In the Terrain Corner today we have: Baueda Releases New Drums, Barrels, and Casks; Manorhouse Workshop Update 11 – Forgotten Halls – Hard Plastic – Fortified Terrace; New Terrain Pieces From Terrain4Games; Hadrian’s Wall in 2mm Available From Brigade Models; Heroic Maps release Modular Kit: Starship Corridors; Starbase Starter and Expansion: Pwork Space Tiles Set Now Available; New 28mm tent kits from Sally 4th; Massive Miniature Building Authority Sale; New Sentry Platforms Available From Kromlech; Manorhouse Workshop Update 12 – You can use Forgotten Halls on any existing terrain; Cyber City: Pwork Wargames science fiction gaming mat now available; and Battlefront Posts New Desert Terrain Preview.

Warlord Games Releases Several PDF Rulebooks

Technology has made it so we don’t have to carry around slices of trees with us wherever we go. Most of us have some form of computer in our pockets most of the day. Then there’s those with tablets (the computers, not, like pills). Well, Warlord Games is letting you use those devices to read some of their books. They’ve got PDF versions of some of their most popular titles now available.

Friday Snippets

How’s everyone doing today? Ready for the weekend? I think I’m gonna keep mine rather chill, just putting together the last of my friend’s Guild Ball stuff. They’re already assembled. They just need greenstuff work done on ’em (filling in some small gaps, filling in the base slots, stuff like that). Other than that… not much. Plan for Thanksgiving, I guess.

But as for right now, it’s time to nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today we have: New D&D Icons of the Realms Miniatures Starter Set Now Available, Steamforged Previews Steamcon/Black Friday Sale, Confrontation Evolution Fan-Made Rules Posted, Wamp releases Master of Roots Bust, Ever wonder what Kriegsspiel Dice looked like?, Super Chibi Round 2 – Reboot Late Pledges now open, Final Days for Portable Paint Station On Kickstarter, New Numidian Infantry Available From Victrix, Spot It! War Elephants Available For Hail Caesar

You know that scene in the Lord of the Rings where those massive elephant-creatures storm into battle with a whole host of troops on the back? Yeah, except for an order of scale, that sort of thing did happen. War elephants were essentially the tanks of their day. The creatures were very resilient and could carry platforms on which troops could use long pikes or bows and arrows to attack the enemy. Now they can come to your Hail Caesar tables, too.

Review Roundup

Hey there, everyone. I hope you’re all having a great Saturday. I just got back from the grocery store (I’m typing this up a decent amount earlier than it is set to go live) so I can get ready to have some company over for a low-key Halloween party. I’m making cookies, chocolate-coated peanut butter balls, and gumbo. Should be a good time. I’m sure a lot of you have somewhat similar plans.

As for the moment, though, before I dive into a bit of last-minute cleaning and then work on cooking, let’s get you those gaming reviews I know you all so desperately desire.

This week we have: Bankers and Robbers, Dungeon Saga, Harry Potter Deck-Building Game, Conquest Games’ Medieval Archers, Mysterium, Aeon’s End, Love Letter: Premium Edition, Mortem Et Gloriam, The Networks, Eclipse: Shadow of the Rift, Tumult Royale, Necronomicards, Cthulhu Crusades, and Loony Quest.

Warlord Games Taking Pre-Orders For Age of Caesar Supplement for Hail Caesar

I mean, his name’s right there in the title of the game. Rome’s legions under the control of Gaius Julius Caesar was one of the most formidable fighting forces the world has ever seen. Sent to conquer Gaul, Caesar soon returned to the Italian peninsula and after several more victories, was able to basically conquer his home country and become Emperor. Soon, you’ll be able to bring those legions to your tabletop with the Age of Caesar book coming out for Hail Caesar.

We’re halfway there, kids. The weekend is just 2.5 short days away (well, hopefully they’re relatively short). Hopefully you’re starting to get together plans for those great days off. And more-hopefully, those plans include gaming. I’ve not fully figured out what I’ll be up to. The last two weekends have been rather full, so I might take it easy this weekend. We’ll see.

But either way, we need to stock up on some bite-size gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: Printable Armies Up On Kickstarter, New 15mm Late Republican Romans From Baueda, Dark Art Studios Launches Devil’s Dungeon Nightmare Creatures Kickstarter, Watchful I Studio Announces 28mm Terracotta Army, Corvus Corax Miniatures Live on Kickstarter, and Flatminis releases a second wave of 2D miniatures.
