Happy International Tabletop Day, everyone! *party cannon*
I hope you’re celebrating in style. I know some of you are out at KingdomCon. Others of you are at PeteCon. Still others are just hanging out at your LGS getting your gaming on. Well, however you’re celebrating, I hope the dice/cards/whatever are in your favor. Remember, it’s all about having fun and making friends.
Anyway, if you’re wondering what game you should play today, maybe some of these reviews can help out.
This week we’ve got: Firefly: Crime and Punishment expansion, Strife: Legacy of the Eternals, Clans of Caledonia, Quartz, World’s Fair 1893, Game of Trains, The Captain is Dead, The Walking Dead: All Out War, Farsight, Martians: A Story of Civilization, Zephyr: Winds of Change, Exit The Game, Morels, and Perry Miniatures’ Confederate Infantry.
We’re already to Wednesday. That’s what happens when you’ve got a day off at the start of the week.
This’ll be my last day here in the old office. We’re moving up the street a couple miles to a new building. Got a couple days at home, though, as they work to finish up some last details on the new place (like… internet) and get all the furniture and such in place. But in the meantime, let’s stock up on some bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: Ares Games Announces Divinity Derby Kickstarter, New 6mm American Civil War Paper Armies From Grand Manoeuvre, New Releases Available From Dark Sword Miniatures, Squarriors: The Card Game Coming To Kickstarter, Lead Adventure Miniatures Launches Dwarven Gold Fever, and Badass Riders Coming To Kickstarter.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
Or, for those of you not in the US. Happy Wednesday!
As for me, I’m going to be busy when I get home. I need to bake another pumpkin pie, put turkey 1 into the brine bucket, speed-thaw turkey 2 (place in cold, running water for a couple hours), and make whipped cream for the pies (cream, sugar, and spices). Gonna be very busy, but should be fun. But to have enough energy for that, I need to nosh on some bite-sized gaming stories.
Today we have: New Infinity Dice Sets From Corvus Belli, New Bases Available From Micro Art Studio, BattleScribe 2.0 Released, Dungeonland PnP is now available and Kickstarter Stretch Goals are revealed, New Alien Heads From Ramshackle Games, Okumarts Games team up with GG Studios, New Releases Available From Dark Sword Miniatures, Divine Art Playing Cards up On Kickstarter, Comrades in Battle Stretch Goal Levels Lowered, Head set Multi Pack From Ramshackle Games, NPC For Hire Game Aid On Kickstarter, New Temple of Isis Bases From Tabletop-Art, Fusion Bases by Wamp Up On Kickstarter, Highway System Coming to Kickstarter, New Female Greatcoat Troops Available From Victoria Miniatures, and New Hordes Token Sets Available From Advanced Deployment.
At once, it feels both like, “wow. Already Wednesday?” and “wow. How is it only Wednesday?”
Is it that way for anyone else or just me?
I feel like I’ve gotten a lot done, but have a lot more waiting ahead of me.
Ah well. We’ll make it. Break on through to the other side. To help with that, here’s a bunch of bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: Scotia Grendel New Releases – October 2016, Rebel Minis Launches Rise of the Animechs Kickstarter, Shatterlands Kickstarter Reaches Funding Goal, Xtraidos Skirmish Game Relaunching Soon On Indiegogo, Ether Wars Kickstarter Relaunch November 22nd + Giveaway starting this Tuesday, New Releases Available From Victoria Miniatures, Idea Jab Card Game Coming To Kickstarter “Pretty Soonish”, Khurasan releases 15mm Seydlitz Tank, Geek Chic Releases The Vanguard Table, Chronicles Miniatures Game Looking For Beta Testers, Brother Vinni Releases Tricycle Robot, Final Hours For Shadows of Esteren On Kickstarter, Final Days for Ninja Arena On Kickstarter, Table Air Combat: U-2 Kukuruznik Now Available, Castles & Crusades latest Kickstarter in its final week, Twisted Brothers Studio join MAGE Company, and New Breacher Bikes Available From Kromlech.
Well, we’ve made it halfway through the week. Just another half to go and we’ll be getting back to the weekend.
I know I could use to fuel up for that last push with a bunch of bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: Beneath Nexus Available for pre-order November 15th, Mage Company Posts 12 Realms: Dungeonland Cover, Comrades in Battle Passes Stretch Goals, and Kromlech New Release: New Breacher Bike Patterns.
Time has been playing weird tricks this week, I feel. The first several days flew by. Thursday took an eternity. Now, today’s doing a little bit of both. I feel like it should be later than it is, so it feels like it’s been a long time since this morning… but I’ve also gotten a ton of stuff done. So I dunno. I do know that I’m possibly going to be playing some Guild Ball this evening and then some D&D tomorrow. So that’s cool. Better pack myself full of energy with some bite-sized gaming stories.
Today on the platter we have: New Imperial Knight Heads From Forge World, Knight Models Previews Suicide Squad Dice, Kromlech New Release: Legionary Shotgun, Angels and Demons join Flatminis 2D miniatures range, Shadows of Esteren Announces Partnership with Syrinscape, Talisman is Free to Play This Weekend Only, Comrades in Battle Reaches Funding Goal, 15mm Naval Crews Range is Back From Capitan Games, and Final Days for Tavern Masters Kickstarter.
During the American Civil War, it wasn’t terribly uncommon for two armies to be within several miles of one-another and barely know the other was there. This was a time before satellites and drones, after all. As such, small scouting parties meeting or a raid happening might involve just a couple dozen men, all together. Most Civil War rules don’t quite allow for playing out these tense battles, but Capitan Studio is looking to fix that with Comrades in Battle, their new skirmish rules set. It’s up on Kickstarter now.
Sometimes games just need to get themselves a little update. Old mechanics that worked at the time get to seem bulky or don’t adequately cover what you want them to. New units surpass old ones in value. Things just seem stale. It happens. Well, Too Fat Lardies felt it was time to update Sharp Practice, their historical game of 1700-1865 combat. So they updated it. And now it’s available.
Living in Atlanta, there’s plenty of opportunity to learn about the events of the Civil War (just don’t talk about that Sure-Man guy. That’ll get you beat up). It was certainly a very tumultuous time in this country’s history (a “no, duh” statement, I know). Now, Warlord Games is bringing that to your tabletop with Glory, Hallelujah, a new supplement for Black Powder that they’re taking pre-orders for now.
I hope everyone’s weekend was as productive as mine was. And yes, “I relaxed and unwound from a busy week” can count as being productive. At least, I think so.
But being Monday, it’s back to the office for many of us. It also means a Terrain Corner feature.
Today’s stories are: Brigade Models Release 2mm Apartment Blocks, Mats by Mars March Promotion “Mars Madness”, Heroic Maps Modular Kit Egyptian Tomb Chambers Released, New 10mm American Civil War Pack Available at Escenografia Espislon, New range of 1:72 industrial buildings from Najewitz Modellbau, New Megalith Paper Terrain From DarekPages, West Land: Pwork Wargames fantasy gaming mat Now Available, and Hex Grids Now Avialable For Battlemap Layers.
Hey everyone. To those in the Northeast, I hope you’re ok and you’re able to start digging out of the snow that landed on your doorstep. Here in Atlanta, we didn’t have much trouble at all. In fact, it was almost 50 degrees yesterday. *ducks the various things that are suddenly thrown at him*
Yes, well, that may be the case, but it’s also the case that it’s Monday. And seeing as it is Monday, it’s time to make your gaming tables look better.
Today’s Terrain Corner articles consist of: New American Civil War Forts from Brigade Models, Fantasy Arc Releases Bug Hunt Locations Expansion for Bug Hunt Corridors, and Pwork Wargames fantasy gaming mat: War Sands.
We’re just chugging right along in the week. We’ve already made it back here to Wednesday. Hopefully the week has been treating you well.

Gettysburg, along with Waterloo, is one of the most well-known battles in history. Scores of books have been written about the conflict. Well, Lost Battalion Games is running a Kickstarter for a new tactical board game that lets you recreate the battle for yourself. The innovative part of the game is that there are several different scales of maps that you move between as you play, letting you dictate the movement of entire armies, but resolve conflicts on a much more “personal” scale.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but for me, the week is just flying by! Can you believe it’s already Wednesday? I hardly can. Hopefully the week is going well for the rest of you. I know a lot of readers are either on their way to, or about to make their way to Chicago for Adepticon this weekend. We’ll have the intrepid Jared Miller there to cover the show, including the $10k Crystal Brush event, as well as just all the cool armies that are always on display.
Anyway, that’s for this weekend. As for right now, it’s time to feast on some bite-size stories we’ve collected over the past couple days.

Columbia Games’ Bobby Lee is another of the Kickstarters ending today. They’ve made it over their goal, so it’s trying to add some stretch goals before time runs out.
From the campaign:
Stretch Goal #2 ($25,000): Entrenchment blocks
Stretch Goal #1 (included): No need to fight over the dice. Since we reached our $20,000 goal, we will include four extra dice, four Blue & Gold for the USA player, and four Gray & Black for the CSA player. These are top quality, 16mm dice, with rounded corners.
Columbia Games are in their final days over on Kickstarter for Bobby Lee, their American Civil War board game. They’ve posted up a couple versions of the beta-test rules for people to look over. They’re pretty close to their goal.
From the campaign:
This game brings to life the most dramatic event in American history, the American Civil War. The game focuses on the one hundred miles between the two rival capitals of Washington and Richmond. For four years, the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, commanded by the incomparable Robert E. Lee (known as Bobby Lee to his soldiers) defended these few bloody miles against superior Union strength in men and supply.
FG MiniZ is showing off their 14th Brooklyn (84th New York) models from their American Civil War line. They’ve got them on pre-sale right now.
From the post:
Well here is something a little bit different to depart from Napoleonics: those who know me well will not be surprised as it is well known that ACW is my favourite period (with 1870 and AWI).
So what was my own and individual project at first is going to become available to everyone.
When I contact our new sculptor in march at first, I asked him to release one of my favourite unit in the ACW because no one makes them.
I spent a lot of time to make reference material to be sure the sculptor will have all the infos needed to make them.
After some months waiting feverishly to see dollies and castings the final result is awesome and exactly what I want. After showing the figures to our inner circle of gamers I was surprised they all want some.
So I decide to add the figures to our shop: as I really do not know if someone else is interested I will start with a kind of pre-order with a 10% discount in a few days.
Now here are the pictures I hope you will enjoy them.
Architects of War has released their new American Civil War game entitled American Uncivil War (I see what they did there).
Go check it out and see the release specials they’ve got going on.
From the release:
American Uncivil War is a set of Skirmish Rules for the American Civil War, that was inspired by such movies as “The Horse Soldiers” and Shenandoah. It allows you to play games with a few individual miniatures or hundreds of miniatures in formation, or a mix of both. It encourages the use of scenarios like foraging parties, spies, bushwackers, supply raids, missions behind enemy lines and many others. There are lots of character attributes such as Dead Eye Shot, Rogue, Cowardly, Despicable, Tracker , to mention just a few. There are rules for looting and loot counters, which can be used to run a scenario by themselves. The rule book is a stunning 128 pages of full color accompanied by a card deck, and features everything from the rules to hobby tips, and contains dozens of beautiful photographs of miniatures and terrain. The rules are quick to learn and easy to use, and generate a wealth of possible games to play. There is an accompanying 9 pack miniature range of characters, ruffians, deserters, troops and even a surgeon. These miniatures add flavor to the games, but are not a necessity to play. We encourage you to use the rules with any 28mm Civil War Miniatures you own. We also stock the Perry Miniatures ACW range, as well as a host of beautiful scale plastic and resin period terrain pieces. Follow the link to find out more. You will also be able to watch videos of a flip through of the rulebook with commentary as well as some game play and rules introduction.
