Fantasy Flight Previews AT-RT For Star Wars: Legion

While we never see the Rebels using the AT-RT in the classic trilogy of Star Wars films, it was a piece of equipment that they could’ve possibly picked up, as we see Clone Troopers using them in the prequel trilogy. Not as heavily armed or armored as the AT-ST, the vehicle still gave some added protection to its rider, as well as some powerful weapons that a regular soldier wouldn’t’ve been able to carry on their own. They’ll be making their way to Star Wars: Legion, and Fantasy Flight is giving you a preview.

Saturday. How wonderful a day. I hope you’re taking advantage of it. I ran a bunch of errands this morning. Now I’m working on painting, of all things. I can’t tell you the last time I painted minis. It’s been quite a while.

But while I wait for this color to dry, lets get you the reviews I know you all so desperately desire.

This week, we have articles on: Alphas Volume #1, Lucky’s Misadventures, Act of Treason, Wildcatters, Konja, Hero Realms: Ruin of Thandar, Hunt for the Ring, Decrypto, Minute Realms, Civilization: New Dawn, and Star Trek Adventures.

Draft Packs Now Available For Star Wars: Destiny

I love draft events. Sure, there’s something to creating a deck ahead of time and making sure it’s as tightly-wound as you can. But there’s also something to flying by the seat of your pants, making your deck from a limited set of cards and having to use only your wits and skill to make it through. Star Wars: Destiny has new draft packs that you can use to have some cool events with.

Fantasy Flight Previews Command Cards From Star Wars: Legion

Commanders in an army are the ones who give orders to the lower-ranking soldiers. These orders are represented in Star Wars: Legion, by you moving the figures around the board, but also by the Command Cards. They determine who will have priority during a turn, being played at the start of each. There are some that are neutral, and can be used by either army. But some are specific to the Dark or Light sides. You get a look at several of these in this preview.

Fantasy Flight Previews Leia Organa and Fleet Troopers Expansions for Star Wars: Legion

Arguably the most influential member of the Rebel Alliance was Leia Organa. A diplomat, a military commander, a strike team member. She did it all. Soon, she’ll be doing it all on your tabletops in Star Wars: Legion with the Leia Organa Commander expansion. And coming along with her, there’s also the Fleet Troopers set, because she certainly couldn’t do all that work just on her own. Fantasy Flight gives us a preview of both here today.

Fantasy Flight Previews AT-ST, T-47 For Star Wars: Legion

Along with the lightsabers and the star ships, the various vehicles of the Star Wars universe are just as iconic. The Battle of Hoth wouldn’t be anywhere near as interesting if it weren’t for the T-47s and their harpoons tripping the walkers. And the battle of Endor wouldn’t be nearly as thrilling if there weren’t the giant AT-STs maneuvering their way through the woods. Both of those are coming to Legion, and you can check out these previews to see how they’ll be implemented.

The Genesys RPG system is built to handle any setting and style of game you want to run in. But that’s not to say that once you’ve got the base book, you’re fully done. It takes you the world of Runewars and Runebound with the Realms of Terrinoth.

5 Great Tabletop Game Conversions for iPad

Digital versions of your favorite tabletop games are becoming popular. They offer some fantastic benefits but also sacrifice some of the experience for convenience.

Virtual or Actual?

There are benefits and disadvantages to both iOS and physical versions of games.

It’s hard to cluster four players around a single iPad to play a game, but cleanup and setup is way, way faster with the iOS versions. Some titles can be sent to an Apple TV with AirPlay or Apple’s Lightning to HDMI adapter, making the small screen less of an issue.

“House rules” are nearly impossible on iOS games, unless already selectable in a preference somewhere in the game —for instance, some of the more popular Monopoly rules, like money on the “Free Parking” space are generally toggle-able.

One might think that the barrier to entry on the iOS is the cost of the iPad, but if you add up all the savings for all five titles here, you’re looking at about $500, far more than the retail of a new iPad.

Regardless of the list of pros and cons, iPad gaming goes far beyond simple school-house favorites, with something for everybody.

That’s where you find yourself in Blood Bound, coming soon from Fantasy Flight. You can check out a quick play preview in this article.
