Cryptozoic Previews Toy Fair Previews

Yeah, I know, it’s a funny headline, but it’s what we’ve got. Cryptozoic has posted up a preview of the games that they will be previewing at New York Toy Fair 2018 (which is less than a week away). They’ll have two Rick and Morty games, two DC Deck-Building sets, and a pair of standalone board games.

New Season of Pandemic Survival Is On

I’m just getting over a cold. Another coworker and her kid just found out they have strep. It’s not a good time. Viruses and bacteria are spreading all over. What we need is a group of public health officials to come in and clean this place up. As you all know, that’s your job in Pandemic. But what group is the best at curtailing these health hazards? That’s what the Pandemic Survival Series is all about. The new season just got underway and you can join in. Your own bleach wipes are not required, but recommended.

Battlefront Releases Game Night Kits for Flames of War

Games don’t survive without a community behind them. That’s simple fact. If it’s just scattered gamers here and there, a game might limp along, but it’s when those gamers get together on a regular basis that games thrive. Well, Battlefront is looking to help communities get together for an evening of Flames of War fun with their Game Night Kits.

Sailor Moon Crystal Dice Challenge Pre-Release Tournament Coming Next Month

It’s cold up in Canada. Very cold. I mean, I used to live in Chicago, and Canada’s colder than that. But for those who love Sailor Moon enough, there just might be a reason to visit that frozen land. Dyskami Publishing is coming out with their Sailor Moon Crystal Dice Challenge game, and they’re holding a pre-release tourney in Guelph in a couple weeks. It’ll be your first chance to try out the game. They’ll even have prizes if you go in costume.

Steamforged Announces Rookie League Event

People love to see characters grow and change over time. That’s the whole point of the narrative structure for a story. In Guild Ball, we’ve seen how numerous characters have progressed along (including now taking dirt naps, because the Guild Ball fluff is the Game of Thrones of miniatures sports games). But what about heading the other direction? By that, I mean taking characters we know and seeing where they came from. That’s what the Rookie League is all about.

Terrain Corner

It’s a rainy Monday here in Atlanta. I actually love the rain. If there’s one thing I’m annoyed at, it’s that it wasn’t raining yesterday where I could stop and appreciate it more, as opposed to, y’know, driving through it to and from work. Ah well, not everything is perfect in life. But we try where we can. Just like how we try and make our gaming tables look perfect. And that’s what we’re here to help with today.

In the Terrain Corner we have: Adventure Forge 3D Map Maker Up On Kickstarter, Heroic Maps – The Lich’s Lair Now Available, Manorhouse Workshop Forgotten Halls and NoLands Comics at Essen, and Battlefront Offering Free Gaming Mats to Gaming Clubs.

Warlord Games is turning 10 years old. *snifflesniffle* They grow up so fast!
Anyway, this weekend, they’re having a birthday bash over at their place. If you’re in the neighborhood, you should stop by. But even if you’re way over on another continent (such as yours truly), you can still get in on the fun a bit by partaking in the big weekend sale they’re having.

Steamforged Announces Union In Chains Worldwide Event

Last year, Steamforged ran their The Butcher’s Civil War event, with players all over the world throwing their support either behind Brisket or Fillet. This year, the scope of their worldwide event is a bit more extensive. The Union, the “mercenaries” of the Guild Ball world, are the center of attention, as various players might be looking to make a permanent home with one of the other Guilds. But who will win these news players? That’s up to you to decide.

Arkham Nights 2017 Coming Next Month

Man, I can’t wait for October. It’s probably my favorite month (even though my favorite holiday, by far, is in November). There’s just so many things I love about that month, mostly having to do with Autumn being in full swing. Another reason to love October, if you’re in Minnesota, anyway, is that’s when Arkham Nights is happening. Fantasy Flight Games is holding a special All-Arkham-All-The-Time event and you can join in.

Renegade Games Announces Special Signing Event For Scott Pilgrim Card Game

We all have our favorite celebrities. For gamers and other nerdy types, that tends to go into areas such as artists and game designers (beyond just tv/movie stars and recording artists that many people have). Well, if you’re a fan of the Scott Pilgrim comic series as well as excited to get Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Card Game coming from Renegade Game Studios, and if you’re going to be in LA this Tuesday, you can stop by and get your game and get it signed, too.

Warlord Games Previews 10th Anniversary LE Figure

Over the past week or two, I’ve been watching through my collection of Terry Gilliam movies. He is, easily, my favorite director, and his commentary tracks are always awesome. As such, it was just a couple days ago I saw, “Listen you stupid bastard, you’ve got no arms left!” “Yes I have!”
Well, if you head to Warlord Games’ 10th Anniversary celebration, you can pick up this figure and say that line over and over to your friends at the gaming shop (as if it’s not already said an average of 2.5 times per day at your shop, anyway).

I think we can all agree that gaming is fun and good. Well, what can be even more fun and good? Gaming for a cause, of course! John Kovalic Biking For Charity Event Happening Now

Most of you know John Kovalic as the fantastic artist behind things like Dork Tower, Apples to Apples, quite a few Munchkin sets, and many, many, many other projects. But he also likes to go out and raise money for charity while bicycling with a duck attached to his helmet (because he’s cool like that). He’s once more raising money for charity, and if you chip in, you can end up with some awesome stuff.

Sept. 23 Cancer Benefit Event Coming Next Month

Gaming is awesome. We all know that. What could be more awesome? Gaming for a good cause. Brian Stuchell, owner of Greenfire Games in Chicago (my original hometown), has been diagnosed with cancer in his jaw. In order to help with treatment, they’re going to be holding a huge benefit event on the 23rd of next month. If you’re in the area and can stop by, I certainly hope that you will.

Photos from Day 4 of Gen Con

Well, Gen Con wrapped up yesterday. Today’s a travel day for me. Then we’ll get you back to a closer-to-regular posting schedule tomorrow and going into the rest of the week. It’s impossible to thank all the people who made this show so awesome. There’s just too many to list (and my brain is still far, far too tired, even after some sleep). But it was an amazing show. Every year, I wonder if “The Greatest 4 Days in Gaming” is going to be false advertising or not, and every year, it proves itself correct. The show does, truly, deserve that title. Anyway, here’s the last galleries from the show. I hope you like ’em.

Photos From Gen Con Day 3

Gen Con this year has been everything I was expecting it to be. Mostly: filled with awesome stuff to see and filled with lots of people! Saturday has always been the busiest day, and yesterday was no exception. And while there was a mildly-noticeable larger crowd, we weren’t all packed in like sardines, for the most part. You could still get around to see all the great booths here at the show. Though taking pictures was sometimes difficult. But take them I did. And here they are for you to see.

Galleries From Day 2 at Gen Con 2017

Once more it’s early in the A.M. and I’m up. That’s just my schedule. But I’ve got another batch of galleries to show off from Day 2 of Gen Con. Remember, the best way to see these immediately is to follow us over on our Facebook page. Anyway, let’s get to it!

Galleries From Day 1 At Gen Con 2017

It’s early dawn here at Gen Con Day 2. I… wish I could tell you what happened to Day 1. I swear it was just here a minute ago. At least, that’s how it feels. I can tell you that the hall is busy. But what would you expect from a show that’s sold out? Thursday already felt like a Saturday. So it’s anyone’s guess as to what the rest of the show will be like.

Anyway, over on the TGN Facebook page, I’ve been regularly updating with galleries from the show. Here’s what we had yesterday.

TGN At Gen Con

As you all can probably tell from the multiple times I’ve mentioned it: I’m in Indy for Gen Con. It’s the 50th anniversary of the show and so it’s going to be quite wild. The show is completely sold out! Already, over the past couple days, I’ve seen this city start to swell with gaming enthusiasts from all over the world (literally, I’ve seen people from Brazil, Italy, China, and many other countries). If you want to get the fastest updates about what I’m checking out, be sure to head over the TGN Facebook Page, where I’ll be regularly posting galleries of the various booths from around the show floor. Got anything specific you want to make sure I get photos of? Feel free to post below and I’ll see what I can do.

Let’s get ready for a great Gen Con!

Plaid Hat Games Posts Gen Con Preview

It’s coming down to the wire. It’s the last day before Gen Con officially begins (though, trust me, there’s plenty of activity going on behind the scenes). Vendors are setting up their booths and carting in product. What sort of product? New and awesome things you’ve yet to see. Plaid Hat Games has some of those, and you’ll be able to check them out tomorrow.
