BattleScribe 1.15.00 Released

BattleScribe Army List Creator has version 1.15.00 now available to use.

From the update:

BattleScribe 1.15.00 is now out, bringing a big overhaul of the printout when viewing your roster. The output style has been greatly improved, and there are several new options to let you customize the output to your taste.

Special mention goes to the new “minimal” output option – it reduces the length of the output by omitting list items that aren’t relevant. This really cleans things up so that copying/pasting your list into forum posts and social networks works really nicely.

BattleScribe 1.15.00 is now out on all platforms: Android, iOS, Kindle Fire, Windows, Mac and Linux.

BattleScribe Mobile Redesign

BattleScribe has redesigned the layout for the mobile version of their army creator program. Go have a look.

iOS Editing a roster

From the update:

As of versions 1.14.06 on Android and 1.14.07 on iOS, BattleScribe Mobile has had a big facelift. It’s looked pretty outdated on both platforms for a long time, but now it finally looks at home among modern mobile apps. The iOS update also includes proper iPad support – no more nasty stretched iPhone interface!

On top of this, there’s also been the usual swathe of new features, performance improvements, bug fixes and tweaks across all platforms, including desktop (see the BattleScribe news blog for full details).

This all comes together to make BattleScribe a fast and reliable army list creation tool across all platforms – iOS, Android and Windows/Mac/Linux computers.

Miniature Central now live

Miniature Central is a great, new place to help keep track of your miniatures collection and create armies, among other things. Go check it out.

Miniature Central

From the launch:

Dallas/Ft.Worth is well-know as the national mecca for board gaming enthusiasts and board game manufacturers. On August 1st, Miniature Central will go live and will be the connection between games, players and manufacturers. The first of its kind, MCen allows miniature enthusiasts to track and trade gaming miniatures, review games and record “clashes” between players. The database of miniatures is the largest, most complete and most accurate accumulation of information currently in existence. “Toy Industry Association’s Adrienne Appell says one of the biggest toy trends reported this year is that people are preferring more traditional toys. The reason for this, she says, is that the new generation just wants to put down the phone, put down the tablet and connect face-to-face with other people.”, says VOA news. With the hobby thriving in Dallas-Fort Worth, our city would seem to agree. On launch day, the founder, Dan “DP” Pepin, plans giveaways for hundreds of dollars of gift cards, game sets, miniatures and painting sets to get the word out. “The excitement around our site is palpable. Even before launch we have over 9,000 fans waiting to use the functionality that MCen has to offer. We are very proud to provide this service to our fellow gamers to research, catalog, trade and record all aspects of their miniature gaming life.”

Serious Lemon updates resources for Realm Fantasy Warfare

Serious Lemon has updated the web resources for Realm Fantasy Warfare including new downloadable tokens, a force generator and a Facebook page.

From the update:

Hi all.
I wanted to share an update on how things are going with the development Realm – Fantasy Warfare. Rules wise there hasn’t been too much change, plenty of tweaking and a heck of a lot of play-testing, which has been a lot of fun.

In related updates though, I know I’m a bit late to the party on this one, but I finally set up a Facebook page. I won’t subject you to any groveling for ‘likes’ but I’d love for you to stop by and get involved.

Back to the Realm website, head to the downloads page where you can now get the new token set to print out and assist your games.

Lastly, I’ve put together a Force Creator to help speed up the force creation process. Although I’ve tried to keep force creation a straightforward task in Realm, I find having a tool like this useful for quickly creating different combinations when deciding what to run.

So as always, I welcome and appreciate any feedback.

The Black Ocean presents Army Builder Data Files for Star Wars X-wing Miniatures Game (Beta)

The Black Ocean has updated their Army Builder Data Files for the new Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game from Fantasy Flight Games.

That really is a mouthful. But the title is not the important part. What you can do with these files are!

For those of you who don’t know Fantasy Flight Games recently released the Star Wars X-wing Miniatures Game and here at The Black Ocean we have fallen in love with it. In this game we get to do what most boys I grew up with wanted to do. Pilot an X-wing!

It can be used to make endless “what if” pairings and “how do these work together” squadrons. Once you have just what you want you can print them out with all stats and pictures, then just grab you miniatures and go!

The Black Ocean is committed to the X-Wing Miniatures Game. As new expansion packs come out we will be updating our Army Builder files.

SteamPoweredTV reviews War Room

SteamPoweredTV over on Dice Rage put up a video review of Privateer Press’ War Room app.

We’re taking a look at the next big thing for Warmachine and Hordes: War Room! A “utility gaming app” for iOS and Android devices. We discuss its features, and compare it to other programs from the past.

Game Classy reviews War Room

Game Classy put up some of their thoughts on Privateer Press’ new app, War Room.

From the review:

As a proponent of the use of the digital medium in gaming, I was quite pleased when Steve, my co-host at “Game Classy”, told me of Privateer Press’ new app for smartphones and tablets. The War Room, as it’s dubbed by its creators, is a whole lot packed into a little bundle. It’s free no less, on both iOS and Android. After many push-backs and date changes, it has finally been released. Essentially a mobile deck protector with a fancy list builder attached, the War Room seeks to be an ingenious middle ground between lugging all your gaming materials around and being woefully unprepared for a pickup game.

Privateer Press posts up War Room FAQ

Privateer Press has put up a FAQ for their new War Room app.

We have been working around the clock with our partners at Tinkerhouse Games to address issues with the War Room app for Android and Apple devices. In order to best disseminate information to our community and keep everyone informed of the steps being taken to fix functionality and content issues, we have created this road map and FAQ. This is a living document and will be updated frequently as updates and fixes are made and any further major issues are discovered. Updates to card data and Android client updates will be available as soon as they are complete; iOS client updates will have to be reviewed by Apple before they can be made available. The Kindle Fire app is still forthcoming and is under review for the Kindle app store.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to build War Room into the app we envisioned.

Privateer Press posts follow-up to War Room announcement

Privateer Press has a follow-up announcement on War Room regarding the problems some users seem to be having with the program.

We have received your feedback that many of you are experiencing issues with the War Room app, particularly concerning some Android devices failing to launch the app, in-app purchase issues, and other functionality issues. We have asked TinkerHouse to look into these problems, and they have issued the following statement with respect to what these issues are and how they are being addressed.

War Room now available from Privateer Press
