Most orphanages are depicted as cold, desolate places run by horrible people who don't care about the kids there. The Bethel Woods orphanage, sitting in the woodlands of the Alpine Slopes, was different. There, the kids were engaged in research into time, space, gravity, and light. That is, it was like that. Then, an ominous force invaded the world, scattered the machines that were being worked on, and made the woods much more dense. However, a small group of people have made it their mission to recover the technology and make it back to Bethel Woods in order to complete the research. It's the only thing that will save the Earth, after all. That's the story behind Bethel Woods, a new board game that's up on Kickstarter now.
The game is a cooperative resource management and worker placement sort of game. You take control of one of the people looking to solve the mystery of Bethel Woods by sending your pieces into the various spots on the board. Your goal is to get the right figures with the right knowledge into the orphanage in order to finish the Daydreamer. But along the way you'll have to repair and maintain the machines in the woods, which will constantly be malfunctioning. Also, you'll be working against spies that are looking to make the machines go critical. Only by working together will you be able to succeed.
The Kickstarter campaign is up and running now. It's about 1/2 of the way to their goal with still 21 days left to go.
