Back when the poker craze really started to take off, a group of my gaming buddies and I would get together for poker nights. We just would just have a nickel ante, so losing $10 over the course of a night meant you really lost your shirt (we were poor gamers, after all). We’d play all different types of poker to keep things fresh. So, if, at the time, we’d had Battle Poker around, I’m sure it would’ve been part of the cycle as well. It takes regular poker and adds battle card mechanics. It’s up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
g3 Games & more is a small startup in the Chicagoland area dedicated to making games “by hobbyists for all hobbyists” we play in the card and tabletp gaming industry.
Our first card game, Battle Poker, is a combination of five card draw poker and a battle card game. Each card has a special rule that, when discarded, causes an effect, such as stealing chips from the pot, looking at another player’s hand, or even shuffling hands around!
The game is designed to be easy to learn, balanced, and fun for an entire night. Battle Poker features a full 54-card deck that can be used as a normal card deck with two jokers. Every card features our original artwork and is printed on high-quality linen cards by the famous Bicycle card company, so you can enjoy Battle Poker as well any game you would play with a normal deck.
The Kickstarter is up and running now. It’s set to go for another 27 days.
