Review Roundup

It’s Saturday and I’m painting minis.
… I’m not good at painting minis…
But, y’know, it’s just about getting the colored goop on the figure. I’m not going to be winning any Golden Demons or Crystal Brushes, but hey… they’ll be painted.

But while the last color dries, I’m gonna post your reviews for you.

Today we have: War of Supremacy, Laruna: Age of Kingdoms, Harvest Dice, Ex Libris, Legacy of Dragonholt, Boom Blast Stix, A Column of Fire, Cytosis, Dream Catchers, Arkon, Fabled Fruit, Queendomino, and Clans of Caledonia.

No matter who is in charge, we often feel that we could do it better. You look at what’s going on and think, “You know, I could fix this all really easily. If only I was the boss.” Well, in The Primary, you are looking to become the President of the United State of America (*Lump begins to play*). Can you win over the voters and become the most powerful person in the free world? The game will be coming to Kickstarter March 15th.

New Hail Caesar Sets Available To Order From Warlord Games

A couple of different time periods on display here in Hail Caesar today. Starting off, there’s a new supplement book, Shield Wall, which covers the Dark Ages. As with all Warlord Games books, if you order direct from them, you get an exclusive figure. They’ve also got a huge set where you can get the book, a couple starter armies, and a bunch of accessories in one go. Then, they hit the Wayback Machine to the land of Greece with the Theban Sacred Band (for if you think that all the gear the Vikings are wearing into battle is just too much).

Friday Snippets

Fridaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Gateway to the weekend. AND! I placed an order for some new dice yesterday. So you know I’m stoked. When dice sets sell out in a matter of minutes, and you manage to get some, it’s a pretty good feeling. Still riding high on that wave today.
#NoSuchThingAsTooManyDice
Anyway, as I wait for those to come in, I think I’ll snack on some bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: New Starship Bases Available From Tabletop-Art, Really Useful Star Wars X Wing Storage Available From Sally 4th, and Zangrahel by Ignacio Fernández Ríos Available From Industria Mechanica.

Two new releases are available today for Bolt Action. One’s a new British Commandos HQ set, giving your troops some command out on the field. Anyway, both are available to order now.

WizKids Announces Curio: The Lost Temple

A staple of the tropes in ancient tombs is the requirement to solve intricate puzzles in order to proceed forward. Theoretically, this meant that only true followers of those that built the structure would know how to get through them (oftentimes with deadly results for those that failed). There’s often a time element involved. You must think fast and accurately, or all is lost. Such is the case in Curio: The Lost Temple, a new real-time puzzle game coming from WizKids.

At the end of the first three movies (number-wise, not release-wise) in Star Wars, Emperor Palpatine has seized power and is ruling the galaxy with an iron fist. Very quickly, those that want the Republic back form a resistance movement that would be known as the Rebellion. But that early start wasn’t easy. The Dawn of Rebellion book for the Star Wars RPG takes you to those difficult days. It’s available now.

New Space Wolves Available To Pre-order From Forge World

Space puppies!
I know, I know. They’re Space Wolves. But, to me, every dog’s a puppy, even if it weighs 240 pounds and it can bite through a parking meter. I’m sure the Space Wolves don’t like being called Space Puppies, but they’ll get over it if you scratch them behind the ears and tell them they’re a good boy. And if you’d like to expand your pack, there’s several new Space Wolf sets available to order from Forge World.

Tompet Games Launches Donning the Purple on Kickstarter

“It’s good to be king.” Sure, we’ve all heard that. But you know what’s better? Being the emperor. And being the emperor of one of the most vast empires the world has ever seen is even better. But, being emperor, as you put on the regal robes, you know that there’s a target on your back, as usurpers sharpen their knives in the shadows. That’s what you’ll be watching out for, or possibly being one of those usurpers, yourself, in Donning the Purple, a new board game from Tompet Games that’s up on Kickstarter now.

Devil’s Run RPG Back Up On Kickstarter

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. It’s another way of saying that if you fall off that post-apocalyptic car while being chased by marauders, you get back up on it. At least, I would suggest you do so. And that’s what Red Scar has done with their Devil’s Run Kickstarter. This new one supports both Modiphius’ 2d20 system as well as Savage Worlds.

Castell Now Available From Renegade Game Studios

We’ve all seen human pyramids being made by cheerleaders at some sporting event. It can be quite a sight to see. But they really don’t hold a candle to the tradition in Catalonia of Castell, where teams will create towers made of people that reach into the sky. If you’re like me and don’t really want to climb a human tower and risk falling, you can still enjoy the tradition on your tabletop with Castell, available now from Renegade Game Studios.

Thursday Terrain Corner

The weekend continues to draw ever-closer. Another couple days and we’ll be there. I hope you have gaming plans. I’m a bit up in the air at the moment. But that’s alright. Even if nothing fully materializes, I’m thinking I might work on painting the first minis that I’ll have painted in several years. It’d be my Fisherman Guild for Guild Ball (at least the main 7 players I choose). Wish me luck. But, in the meantime, as I contemplate making my figures look better on the table, let’s make those tables look better, themselves.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: New Terra-Former Passageway Tile Kit From Sally 4th, Combat Plaza: SciFi Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargames, and Brigade Models – Small Scale Walled Farms now Available.

Pandasaurus Games Announces Duelosaur Island

Many of us, growing up (or even now), wish we could go visit a dinosaur theme park. I mean, how cool would it be if Jurassic Park were a real thing (minus all the people getting killed and eaten, of course)? I think the only thing cooler would be being the one in charge of the park. And that’s what you’ll be in Duelosaur Island, a new stand-alone Dinosaur Island spin-off game from Pandasaurus Games.
