Fantasy or sci-fi? How do you like your RPGs? Normally, when you've got elements from one, there's not many elements of the other. But not for The Realm of the Gateway. It's a system that's got one foot firmly in the fantasy and the other in the sci-fi. The game is also up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
2000 years ago, the people of Atlantis triggered an event, a catastrophe, that transported their entire population to a strange and alien world. A world trapped in a dimensional gateway, caught between a dimension of magic, and one of science and technology. Now you can join them to adventure in deep and dark dungeons or across the galaxy in star spanning space craft.
The Realm of the Gateway is a multi-genre pen and paper role playing game set in the mystical world of Uylande. Half of the world is trapped in a dimension of magic, a world of swords and sorcery. The other half of the world is in a dimension of science. A world of high technology, robots and starships. Where the two meet is the Death Zone, a place of chaos, of wild, uncontrollable shifts of physical laws. A land of weird and mysterious mutants.
The Realm of the Gateway consists of four core books. The Basic Rules contain all the rules needed for play, including character creation, skill use, combat and the use of will. The Basic Rules will be released as a free to download pdf. The next three core books are the setting books, with specific rules for play for each setting.
The campaign is up and running now and is set to go for another 21 days.
