The OP Games is bringing everyone's favorite yellow sponge and his whole host of underwater friends (and foes) to your tabletops in a pair of new SpongeBob Squarepants games. One's a version of Trivial Pursuit where fans of the show can put their knowledge to the test. The other is Plankton Rising, following other such Rising titles that the company has released.
From the website:
Usaopoly (also known as The Op), in concert with ViacomCBS Consumer Products and Hasbro, Inc., are pleased to announce the imminent arrival of TRIVIAL PURSUIT®: SpongeBob and SpongeBob: Plankton Rising.
Well-versed fans of the undersea protagonist can expect TRIVIAL PURSUIT®: SpongeBob to overflow with fact-based questions spanning all 12 seasons of the comical animated series. The game’s launch will coincide with the May 22 release of Paramount Pictures’ The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, a new feature film in which SpongeBob, with the help of best friend Patrick, must solve the mysterious kidnapping of his beloved pet, Gary the Snail.
On the cooperative front for light strategy lovers comes SpongeBob: Plankton Rising, the latest title from The Op’s signature Rising card and dice series launched in 2018. Inspired by the TV show’s ongoing narrative, whereby antagonist Plankton continues his endless quest to steal a Krabby Patty for analysis, players will have to work together as SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick and Squidward to waylay the danger.
“Utilizing The Op’s proprietary Rising game engine (which was recently recognized for its achievement in creativity and innovation with licensed products) SpongeBob: Plankton Rising is a best-in-class cooperative tabletop game that will keep players on the edge of their seats,” said Heather Campbell, VP of Sales at The Op.
The addition of these two games will mark The Op’s continuing partnership with Nickelodeon and Hasbro which previously delighted fans of 90s nostalgia with YAHTZEE® Ren and Stimpy and MONOPOLY® Rugrats.
