Cults. They're a staple villain in RPGs. Trying to resurrect or summon long-gone deities that will surely cause havoc all around, the heroes generally have to thwart their plans. But it can be tough to make a cult more interesting than simply, "yeah, dead god. Long robes. Chant a lot." If you want to add more dimensions to your cults, you'll want to check out Remarkable Cults & Their Followers, a system-agnostic RPG supplement that's up on Kickstarter now.
From the campaign:
Too often, the bad guys in our roleplaying games are nameless street thugs, one-dimensional bandits, or crazed wizards. Remarkable Cults gives inspiration (and pre-made organizations) that break those cliches and provides ways to add depth, complexity, and danger to villainous factions in your games. Give your players worthy adversaries to investigate, challenge, or even ally with, resulting in endless tantalizing story opportunities!
Third In the Series: Following the success of our Remarkable Inns and Remarkable Shops GM guides, Remarkable Cults is the third book in this series, with a planned "sequel" in 2022. This book is largely system-neutral, providing worldbuilding ideas that are not rules-specific and are easy to use in any fantasy roleplaying game. The estimated content is around 120 pages, which may expand with stretch goal unlocks.
As you can see from the featured image, the campaign's already up and over its funding goal with 29 days left to go.
