How would WWII gone if you'd been in charge of the various nation's armies? In Total Domination, you get to find that out. This new tactical board game from Phallanx is available to late pledge for now. The folks behind the design have been working hard and have made a lot of changes and improvements from the initial Kickstarter campaign.
From the announcement:
The Domination pledge manager has just been opened so that backers can fulfil their pledges and buy extras. Those who missed out on the campaign can use the late pledge to order the game at a favourable price with extras that won't be available in the retail version, and certainly not at this price!
Since the Kickstarter campaign ended, Domination has been improved and refined. The rules have been rewritten, clear examples have been developed, and the game itself has been enhanced with a solo mode and a special "Fall of Axis" scenario that allows the game to be played very quickly, throwing the players into a whirlwind of events that will allow them to face their opponents already at full strength using equipment, positions and technology. It's also one of the best ways to familiarise yourself with all the possibilities that Domination has to offer.
During the campaign we promised a double-sided board, and now we've found the best middle ground to please the two groups of players. On one side will be the original abstract board with a square layout. On the other side will be a new map more in line with the real geography. Thanks to this, players will be able to focus not only on the relations of individual regions and countries, but will also see how they looked on the world map, the distances separating them and their geographical arrangement in relation to each other.
The game has managed to unlock many stretch goals, which you can also get in the late pledge. The game has been enriched with new variants and additions that add variety to the gameplay and make the experience of World War II through this game even more complete.
The unique tank and ship designs look great on the board (as you can actually see below), and also allow you to get acquainted with vehicles modelled on the real ones.
By introducing U-boats for Germany, additional asymmetry has been introduced to the game. This interesting mechanic enables better balance and gives the German player a real dilemma in how negative to make the relationship with the Western Allies.
In turn, the possibility using of bombers in the game makes it crucial to carefully planyour moves.
And these are just a handful of the innovations that enable Domination to present World War II in a compact game that is, nevertheless, multi-layered, dynamic and unique. It's not complicated game in terms of rules, but mastering the game will require a lot of passion and commitment.
